Burnett, Willie Burnett, H. J. Burnett andLillie M. Burnett. On February 26, 1867, Eliza Brooks married a second time toWillis Hayden Ferguson in Washington County, Texas and immediately movedto Hays County, Texas where Willis had bought land. Willis was born on September15, 1829 in Kentucky and is the son of Reason Ferguson (born 1807,Virginia) and Susanna (Harvey) Ferguson (b. 1808). A detailed account of theFerguson family can be found on pages 79 through 83 of the book ”Wimberley’sLegacy." Willis and Eliza Ferguson were the parents of three children:............Susan Olive Ferguson (3.8.3), b. March 31, 1868, Texas............Robert Willis Ferguson (3.8.4), b. March 4, 1870, Texas............Joseph William Ferguson (3.8.5), b. May 4, 1871, TexasIn 1870, Willis and Martha Ferguson were living in Hays County, Texas. MarthaEliza (Brooks) Ferguson died on May 18, 1871 and was buried in theWimberley Cemetery. On May 23, 1872, Willis Ferguson married again to Mrs.Susan (Moon) Driskill (born July 31, 1842, Texas) in Hays County, Texas andthey had two children: Lillie Lila Ferguson (born March 11, 1873, Texas) andTula May Ferguson (born May 7, 1881, Texas). Susan Driskill was the widowof William Rufus Driskill and they had at least three children: Joseph WilliamDriskill (born 1862), Josephine “Dollie” Driskill (born 1864) and Susan E.“Bettie” Driskill. In 1880, Willis Ferguson and his second wife were living inHays County, Texas. In 1900, Willis H. Ferguson was living alone in HaysCounty, Texas. Willis Ferguson died on August 26, 1901 and Susan (Moon)Ferguson died on December 27, 1903. Both were buried in the Wimberley Cemeterynear Wimberley, Texas. Joann Burnett drowned in the Blanco River in thesummer of 1872. John H. Susan was born on March 31, 1868 inTexas. On March 22, 1899, Susan Ferguson married her first cousin, JasperLouis Gilbert. Louis was born on March 13, 1862 in Dewitt County, Texas andis the son of Pleasant Lee Gilbert (born 1840, Texas) and Berthania Thurman(Ferguson) Gilbert (born 1837, Kentucky). Berthania’s brother, Willis HaydenFerguson married Susan’s mother, Martha Eliza Brooks. Jasper served twoyears as a Texas Ranger (1881 and 1882).
