7-398 INTERACTIVE FAMILY HISTORIES1780 to Mary Parham, so the timeframe and locations match, but there remainsthe problem of Robert Rose Brooks naming two of his children by the samegiven name, Jordan. Other descendants of Jordan Brooks (9.1) present the casethe two nephews of Jordan Brooks (2) or the son of Jordan Brooks (2) could bethe father of Robert Brooks and grandfather of Jordan Brooks (9.1). JordanBrooks (2) had a son, Robert Brooks (born 1787). The brother of JordanBrooks, Wade Brooks, had a son, Robert Brooks (born 1783 to 1787). Thebrother of Jordan Brooks, William Brooks, had a son, Robert Brooks (born between1780 and 1788). Knowing that Jordan Brooks (9.1) was born around1795 and that Jordan Brooks (9.1) probably had a brother, Robert Brooks whowas born around 1792, it appears unlikely that Jordan Brooks (9.1) was the sonof any of these relatives of Jordan Brooks (2).The will of Benjamin Cockram indicates that two of his daughters married mennamed Brooks and there is the obvious possibility that these two men could bebrothers that married sisters. This will indicates and Benjamin Cockram had twodaughters:............Daughter (married Jordan Brooks)............Daughter (married Robert Brooks)These marriages were recorded in Morgan County, Georgia:............Jordan Brooks married Elizabeth Cochran, January 19, 1815............Robert Brooks married Tuby (Feruby) Cockran, February 17, 1810The 1850 census of Coffee County, Alabama suggests that Matthew Brooks andJordan Brooks (9.1) could be brothers:............Household 198 - Jordan Brooks, b. 1827, son of Jordan Brooks (9.1)............Household 199 - Matthew Brooks, b. 1783, South Carolina............possible brother of Jordan Brooks (9.1)............Household 204 - Robert P. Brooks, b. 1819, son of Jordan Brooks (9.1)............Household 205 - Elizabeth Brooks, b. 1800, widow of Jordan Brooks (9.1)The 2003 family descendant chart received from Woody Brooks indicates thatJordan Brooks (9.1) is the son of Robert Brooks. It indicates that Robert Brookswas born in 1760 in Virginia and was the father of four sons:............Matthew Brooks, b. 1783 (later lived with Jordan in Alabama)............Robert Brooks, b. 1792, South Carolina (married Cochram 1810)............Hiram Brooks, b. 1800, South Carolina............Jordan Brooks, b. 1790s, South Carolina, died 1847 Georgia............(gives substantial details on Jordan’s descendants)The 2003 web site of Keith A. Selke indicates that Jordan Brooks (9.1) is theson of Robert Brooks. It appears that this web site is based on the same familytradition found in the above family descendant chart by Woody Brooks. It statesthat Robert Brooks was born in 1760 in Virginia and died around 1830 inCrawford County, Georgia. It should be noted that children were listed as [?]which is stated as a “questionable relationship (local residence, naming patterns, wrong branch in the right family tree, nearly 100 % theory).” Unfortunately this
