Elizabeth was born in 1790 in Edgefield County, SouthCarolina. According to “Brooks <strong>Family</strong> History,” Elizabeth Brooks married “JoeSlaughter.” Joel Slaughter was born in 1782 in North Carolina. In 1835, Elizabethis mentioned in her father’s will as “Elizabeth Slatter.” In 1840, JoelSlaughter was enumerated in the census of Talbot County, Georgia. Joel (born1780 to 1790) is listed with his wife (born 1780 to 1790), one daughter (born1820 to 1825) and one son (born 1825 to 1830). In 1841, “Joel Slatter” waspaid $38.16 from the estate of Elizabeth’s father, Jordan Brooks. Joel and ElizabethSlaughter were the parents of at least two children:............Martha A. Slaughter, b. 1825............Jordan Williamson Slaughter (2.5.2), b. October 10, 1829, Talbot Co., GeorgiaIn 1850, Joel and Elizabeth Slaughter were living in Stewart County, Georgiawith their two children, Martha and Jordan. Joel Slaughter died in 1855 as hisson, Jordan, was made administrator of his estate on November 5, 1855. In1860, Elizabeth (Brooks) Slaughter was living in Stewart County, Georgia.
