Marla played basketball for the East Yancy HighSchool team. During her last years, her team were champions, losing only threegames in three years. Marla is still active in sports and plays women’s leaguebasketball and volleyball and also plays golf. From 1965 to 1966, Marla attendedBrevard College in Brevard, North Carolina. On September 3, 1966,Marla Brooks married Charles Baxter Lang of Slater,South Carolina. Marla and Charles were married in Fort Rucker, Alabamawhere Charles was stationed in the army.
