Specific Decontamination Procedures for Equipment and Bench top Surfaces which have come into
contact with Highly Toxic Waste
Include here methods of cleaning up work surfaces in hoods or bench tops so as to render traces of
toxic chemicals benign.
Lab coat, gloves, and safety glasses must be worn by anyone who is going to clean the bench top
or hood surfaces. Any solid waste will be collected into labeled waste bottles using a brush. Then the
surface will be cleaned using paper towels. Any spilled solution on the bench top will be neutralized if
necessary. Then, the surface will be cleaned using paper towels.
