As a result, the vast majority of chemicals found in the lab are dilute aqueous metal standards which pose no significant health risk. There are several compressed gas cylinders, most of which are located in one holding area in Room 118, on the right wall, midsection of room.. There are acetylene, dinitrogen oxide, argon, and 12% Hydrogen in balance of argon mixture gas cylinders. In room 117 (in back of labroom) there are three gas cylinders, one each of hydrogen, Oxygen, and helium. 18

Research involving biological systems also occurs. Hazards include toxic and caustic chemicals in all phases, electrical appliances, high intensity light sources (for use in photochemical experiments), and pressurized gas cylinders (argon, nitrogen, compressed air, and hydrogen). Against the rear wall, left of the one window in the room are housed a number of pyrophoric and moisture sensitive chemicals. Avoid spraying water or aqueous solutions in this area. These chemicals include sodium and lithium metal, alkyl lithiums, and trialkylaluminums. 19
