3-8 Hardware SetupSetting the Channel 1 Data Rate and Node Address SwitchesO NChannel 11 2 3 4 5 6 7 8= ON = 1= OFF = 01. Locate the switchbank labeled “Channel 1” on the left side of themodule.2. Set the DeviceNet Data Rate for Channel 1 to 500K baud for theexample application by setting switch 1 to an ON (“1”) positionand switch 2 to an OFF (“0”) position.3. Set the DeviceNet node address for Channel 1 to node 0 for theexample application by setting switches 3 through 8 to the OFF(“0”) position.TIPRefer to the table on the left side of the module toset the channel to a different node address. Theaddress range is 0 to 63.IMPORTANTThe node address setting must not conflict with thenode address of any other device on the network.Note that channel 2 is not used for the exampleapplication.Setting the I/O Chassis Addressing Node SwitchesO NConfiguration1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8= ON = 1= OFF = 0Set the I/O chassis addressing mode to 1-slot for the exampleapplication.1. Hardware Setup 3-9Installing the Scanner Module in the ChassisATTENTION!Do not install the 1771-SDN Scanner Module with thechassis power supply on. Turn off the chassis powersupply. You will disrupt backplane communicationand may damage your module.1. Select a slot for the 1771-SDN module in the chassis. You may useany slot except the leftmost slot, which is reserved for the PLC-5processor. For the example application, we installed the scanner inslot 1.2. Insert the 1771-SDN Scanner module into the slot.Apply firm, even pressure to seat the module in the I/O chassisbackplane connectors.Publication 1771-6.5.132 - June 2000
