Chapter 23: Special MaintenanceSupport PackagesRegression testing is necessary because many objects in many functional areas may beaffected by changes from a Hot Package. All functional areas must perform regression teststo verify that a Hot Package does not create new problems as it fixes old ones. A HotPackage is a “mini-upgrade,” especially if it is large (for example, Release 4.0B, Hot Package10).All existing processes should continue to function as they did before the Hot Package wasapplied. A review of the notes related to a Hot Package indicates what specific tests need tobe performed by the technical and functional team. As during the implementation, thefunctional teams should have a script of test procedures to test the system. This script couldalso be used in the regression test.SAP Note #Description19466 Downloading a patch from SAPSERVx33525 Important information about SAP patches < 3.1H53902 Conflicts between Hot Packages/LCPs and Add-ons62119 Obtaining extra large patches73510 Problems during upgrade of patched source releases82264 Important information about SAP patches >= 3.1H83458 OCS Info: Downloading patches from SAPNet84962 Info: SPAM update85820 Patch is not displayed in patch queue86241 HR Legal Change Patches for the HR component87432 Contents of and applying LCPs89089 Configuration of R/3 Systems for LCPs97620 OCS Info: Overview of Important OCS Notes97621 OCS Info: Online Correction Support (OCS)97623 Patch types97630 Known problems with patches >= 3.1H104664 Applying patches from CD119738 Problems during upgrade with too new Hot Packages173814 Known problems with patches Release 4.6System Administration Made Easy23–39
