ANOTHER musical extravaganza
for the Nixon Theatre.
Hassard Short will present
his all-star musical comedy,
"One Sunny Day'' there for one
week only, beginning Monday,
January 16.
It is a rollicking comedy, full
of humor and wit, dancing and
singing, with a chorus of more
than a hundred beauties.
One of the biggest and most
dazzling collection of stars ever
assembled, heads this cast and
includes among others, Frank
Mclntyre, Lynne 0 v e r m a n,
Jeanette MacDonald, Billy B.
Van, Carl Randall. Rosalie
Claire, Audrey Maple, Margie
Finley, Maurice Holland, Peggy
Cornell, Evangeline Raleigh, Bob
Lively, Sidney Hawkins and
Peggy Dolan.
The comedy is based on the
French farce that pleased Paris
for many months, "Mile. Montmarte,"
written by Maurice Hennequin
and adapted by Clifford
Grey and William Cary Duncan.
The lyrics are by the same two,
the music by Jean Schwartz
with additional numbers by
Eleanor Dunsmuir. The dances
were arranged by Earl Lindsay,
the book staged by Marcel Varnel
and the settings are by Watson
Barratt.
Now it seems there is a nice
little dancer, her name is Ginette
and she dances at the Cafe La-
Rouge in the Latin Quarter. She
has many suitors, but the
favored one is Lucien, who. is
going to marry Ginette after his
book, which is to be a dramatic,
thrilling tale, telling of Ginette's
rise from nothing to something,
is published and Lucien is loaded
down with francs. But Ginette
has been very friendly with
Monsieur Leon Lambert, head of
the banking firm bearing his
name, and word reaches Lucien
that their friendly relations are
not all they should be. Lucien,
quite disturbed, goes to Ginette
and asks her to give him an explanation
which Ginette obligingly
does. The explanation is
worse than the condition, and
for three acts, a much misunderstood
Ginette tries to keep the
situation from getting out of
control and losing her Lucien.
