Paris informs us of the importance
of washable silks and
the rough weaves, and proceeds
to prove that importance along
her lovely Riviera. There is
"China" silk; the Japanese
crepes; and the shantungs,
rajahs and honans. They come
in most alluring colors.
Daytime frocks have re-discovered
the tunic and are proceeding
to pretend that it is
very, very new. And to a certain
extent it is, for it incorporates
the details of the changing
mode into its application—it is
slip-over; it is surplice; or it is
coat style.
Southern fashions are makingmuch
of wool crepe for the inevitable
ensemble that is worn
everywhere. The frock is one or
two-piece and is worn with a
three-quarters or seven-eighths
length coat or one of the fascinating
new capes that are proving
so popular.
Trench coats are comparatively
new and most decidedly
smart. They are made of unbleached
cotton gabardine, belted
at the normal waistline and
generously pocketed. They meet
the needs of the motorist, the
sailor-lady, and appear on the
beach. They're rain-proof.
Beachwear insists upon glorifying
the jersey suit, that is, by
all odds, the most practical garment
in that special mode. Active
swimmers are on the increase,
creating a demand for a
practical, comfortable, yet attractive
garment. Colors are
very effective.
What would be the answer, if
the question of a garment to
blaze a new trail were raised?
The blazer, of course. And it is
appearing along Southern beaches
in a diagonal-striped effect,
and they are using, not one, or
two, or three colors, but four in
the process.
