THE TYPICAL PERFORMANCE DIMENSION OFA PRIMARY NODETo illustrate the performance dimension of an urban structureelement, the example of a primary node is included. Theprocess encompassed the following steps:The typical urban structure of a primary node is physicallymodelled (Figure A.2.6). The modelling is based on currentdevelopment best practice, appropriate historical precedent,and principles of 'good and sustainable urban form'. Themorphological modelling establishes the envisaged land-useactivity mix, the floor area of each of the activities (assumingfull development), the typical range of building typologies,the percentage allocation of land area, estimation of mixeduseactivity, residential typologies and densities, establishingthe estimated number of units.
