The children started to leave early in themorning, they would go around the town begging, stealing things, and thegirls have tragically fallen prey to the human traffickers.While I was remembering this story that day in the school, I started thinkingof ways to help these four little children to feel like everybody else and nothave a tragic end. What kind of strategy needs to be employed? What kindof actors would make this strategy work?! There were many things to beconsidered and the situation was not easy at all.How responsible and what would their parents' role be, while they often"forgot to pick up their children from school"? What about the teacherwhose perspective was "they are gypsies"? What would be her role inhelping reduce the prejudices? What about the school's space, capacities,competence and reputation, how able would it be in engaging in changingthe situation? How reflective and sensitive would the local government be infacing this phenomenon?All these were problems that had to be carefully analyzed and treated.A. 3.2. Key actors involvedThe school: The major actor was the school. By school I mean the wholeeducative environment, the principal, the head teacher as well as the studentgovernment, who by planning and designing educative activities create apositive learning environment. A well managed school is open in involvingthe community of parents by considering them as partners in fulfilling thecommon goals.The local government: The elected representatives hold a social, politicaland institutional responsibility apart from the human and civil duty.Responsible representatives consider themselves as noble servers to theinterests of the community. Because the school is one significant institutionof the community, it is financially supported by the local funds inmaintaining and providing an optimal teaching environment. Thisperspective nurtured my conviction that insisting in this area and with theschool principal’s authority on the school staff, would enable the initiationof activities that would include an educational, as well as a psychologicaland social, approach.Eventually pedagogy is a complex phenomenon involving tinny details,moments, people, attitudes and behaviours, which complete the frameworkof a day, a week, a month and a whole year and each evaluation providessuccessful results, also in the eyes of the parents' community.30
