Havethe child place the sticks, cubes, or pegs on top of the lineyou have drawn until he reaches the end of the line. Drawvertical, diagonal, and curved lines for the child to useas well.<strong>Activity</strong> 10: Sticks and outline shape cardsUsing the sticks and the large square outline card, give thechild four, four-inch sticks and have her place the sticks onthe outline. Call her attention to the four sides and corners ofthe square. Perform the activity with other simple shapes.<strong>Activity</strong> 11: <strong>Activity</strong> Sheets #1-3<strong>Print</strong> or copy <strong>Activity</strong> Sheets #1-3 onto transparency film orpaper. (<strong>Activity</strong> Sheets are located on the enclosed CD inPDF format.) Have the child trace between two heavyhorizontal lines with his finger, then with a marker or colorgrease pencil. Have him perform the same activity with thelines oriented vertically and diagonally. (Some children mayhave difficulty understanding that they are to trace betweenthe lines rather than on the line. You may shade the areabetween the lines with a yellow marker and have them trace“the yellow path,” or simply move on to later <strong>Activity</strong> Sheetswhich require the child to trace over a single line.)
