Play Rummy, matching cards of the same shape or color toform groups of three or four. Crazy 8’s may be played bydealing six to eight cards to each player, depending on thesize of your deck. In Crazy 8’s a card is turned over from thetop of the deck. The first player attempts to match the coloror shape of this card witj a card from her hand. For example,if a red square is turned over, the first player may put on thestack any card showing a red shape, or a square. If shedoes not have a match in her hand, she must draw from thedeck until she obtains a match. The second player plays hercard based on the card put down by the first player. Thewinner is the first person to play all of her cards. (In atraditional game of Crazy 8’s the “8” card is treated as itsowner specifies [e.g., the owner can dsignate the card asclubs]. For more fun, incorporate this feature into your game, creating a special wild card which the child must recognize.)Activity 39: Familiar object picturesHave the child match pictures according to their functiongrouping toys, clothing, food, and utensils separately.Demonstrate the activity first by grouping several pictures.“These things are alike.
