BMW Inspection I Procedures (600 Miles)<br />

Changing Engine Oil & Filter<br />

BMW inspections/services I, II, III, IV<br />

Note: Drain oil with engine at operating<br />

temperature.<br />

• Remove fill plug.<br />

• Unscrew oil drain plug & drain oil.<br />

• Fit oil drain screw plug with new<br />

sealing ring.<br />

• Using oil filter wrench, P/N 88 88 6<br />

11 4 650, unscrew oil filter.<br />

• Coat sealing ring of new oil filter<br />

with oil and screw in.<br />

• Fill the new oil filter with oil and,<br />

install.<br />

• Recheck oil level approx. 10 minutes<br />

after test run.<br />

Important: Never top up engine oil<br />

above ‘MAX’ mark.<br />

Change Engine Oil and Filter<br />

Add new to proper level (do not overfill)<br />

Filling capacity, engine:<br />

With oil filter change 4 qt.<br />

Without filter change 3.7 qt.<br />

Oil capacity between min and max<br />

marks app. 0.5 liter (.53 qt)<br />

Tightening torque:<br />

Oil filter 11 Nm (8 ft. lb.)<br />

Oil drain plug 32 Nm (23 ft. lb.)<br />

Engine oil grades:<br />

Brand-name HD oil for petrol engines of<br />

API classification SG/SH<br />
