BMW Inspection I Procedures (600 Miles)<br />

Changing rear drive oil<br />

BMW inspections/services I, III, IV<br />

• Unscrew oil filler plug and oil drain<br />

plug/drain oil.<br />

• Screw in oil drain plug with new<br />

sealing ring.<br />

• Fill with transmission oil.<br />

• Screw in oil filler plug with new sealing<br />

ring.<br />

Check throttle cables for kinks,<br />

abrasion and verify smooth operation<br />

- replace if necessary<br />

BMW inspections/services I, II, III, IV<br />

• Inspect cables for external wear or<br />

breaks in casing from rubbing on<br />

other components.<br />

• Turn handlebars to full lock left and<br />

right while operating throttle twist<br />

grip. If abnormalities in “twist grip<br />

feel” are present, determine location<br />

of binding and repair.<br />

• Ensure throttle twist grip “snaps”<br />

back to closed position when held<br />

in open position and released.<br />

• Do not lubricate cables! They are<br />

designed to operate dry.<br />

Brand-name Hypoid gear oil of SAE<br />

Oil drain plug, 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)<br />

Oil filler plug, 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)<br />
