544 The Secret History of the World
If the Fall is a direct consequence of identifying with the “I” of personality [the
predator’s mind, the degraded DNA state], and the solitude of polar beings
separated by the Fall is the source of weakness in humans who have in this way
become mortal, the return of Unity appears to be an inexhaustible source of new
energies. These energies are necessary to man, and to restore the dangerously
disturbed equilibrium of today’s public and private life, he must seek them out.
However, this return to the perfect unity of polar beings is not given freely. It is the
exclusive privilege of those who have crossed, or are ready to cross, the Second
Threshold of the Way.
It is through realization of the totally indivisible unity of their real “I”, by two
polar Individualities arrived at the Second Birth, that the original sin can and must
be redeemed. 386
The next step of the evolution of Love is the Alchemical Androgyne. This is not
to be understood in the physical sense, but rather in the Spiritual meaning. The
Divine Androgyne is the highest condition of Human Consciousness which crowns
the efforts of the Seeker and which Union results in the Second Birth.
Mouravieff interpreted the Tradition to mean a relation between two people, but
it is actually more simple than that. Objective Love can only be attained here, in
human existence, by its complete and vivifying manifestation at the time of the
Second Birth.
The practice of Courtly Love demands sacrifices and exploits. These are tests. For
those who surmount them, the salutary effect of Gnosis is doubled. 387
The courtly Love of the Knight and his Lady is a metaphor that describes the
proper relation between matter - mother - and spirit - logos.
The Tree of Life
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God Himself. He was present originally with God. All things were made and came
into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has
come into being. In Him was Life and the Life was the Light of Men. And the Light
shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it, and is
unreceptive to it.” [John 1: 1-5, Amplified, Zondervan]
The word “Logos”, in Greek, means “word”. When it was used in archaic,
esoteric terms, it had a more specific meaning which was that “Divine Essence”
was concentrated in its Name. This theory of creation was passed from Tantrism to
Neoplatonic philosophy, and was later adopted into Christianity and from there, it
was suggested to apply only to Jesus. The Christian enthusiasm for this idea may
