Mughal Iron & Steel Industries Limited (“Mughal Steel”)<br />

was incorporated in 2010 as a public limited company. The<br />

Company took over the running business of a partnership<br />

concern by the name of “Mughal Steel” which had been in<br />

the steel business for over 50 years and was owned by the<br />

sponsors of the Company. Today, the Company is one of the<br />

leading steel companies in Pakistan in the long rolled steel<br />

sector, equipped with depth of technical and managerial<br />

expertise, a reputation for reliability and a sharply defined<br />

business focus, which has forged the organization into a<br />

modern, highly competitive supplier of steel products. The<br />

management team is being led by Mr. Khurram Javaid,<br />

Director and CEO.<br />

At Mughal Steel we work with passion and expertise to<br />

develop high-quality products and intelligent industrial<br />

processes that create sustainable infrastructures and<br />

promote efficient use of resources. We combine our<br />

innovative engineering capabilities with traditional strengths<br />

in materials. This means we create value for our customers<br />

and can successfully exploit the diverse opportunities in the<br />

markets of the future. The Company’s ability to generate<br />

profits throughout the fluctuations of the steel cycle is<br />

testimony to the success of years of intensive business reengineering<br />

and the cultivation of a continuous improvement<br />

culture that has embedded the Company’s position amongst<br />

the highest quality and lowest cash cost producers of steel.<br />

Our primary goal is to supply quality, reliable and durable<br />

steel products into the local and nearby markets. Currently<br />

we supply in Pakistan and export to Afghanistan.<br />

GEOGRAPHICAL PRESENCE<br />

The registered office of the Company is situated at 31-A,<br />

Shadman I, Lahore, while the factory is located 17 KM’s<br />

Sheikhupura Road, Lahore.<br />

NATURE OF BUSINESS AT<br />

MACRO AND MICRO LEVEL<br />

Our business model is to develop sustainable and growth<br />

oriented business operations by providing quality, reliable<br />

and durable steel products and superior customer<br />

satisfaction. We apply our overall strategy to create longterm<br />

value by capitalizing upon the competitive advantages<br />

of our products, people and assets. Operations of the<br />

Company are subject to different environmental and labor<br />

laws. The Company is fully complying with all applicable<br />

environmental, labor, corporate and other relevant laws.<br />

The Company principally operates in long-rolled steel<br />

industry and is involved in multidimensional activities from<br />

making billets to steel rebars, girders and t-iron. The main<br />

markets of the Company are domestic housing sector<br />

market both in urban and rural areas and large infrastructure<br />

projects market. However, the Company also exports to<br />

Afghanistan.<br />

Steel rebars cater to both housing sector market and large<br />

infrastructure projects market, while girders and t-iron mainly<br />

cater only the housing sector market. The housing sector<br />

market for steel rebars comprises mainly of housing sector<br />

in the urban areas, whereas, the retail market for girder and<br />

t-iron mainly comprises of housing sector in the rural areas.<br />

The large infrastructure projects market on the other hand<br />

comprises of demand from different projects initiated by<br />

various private sector, public sector and semi-government<br />

institutions.<br />

Mughal Supreme steel rebars are used to target the<br />

housing sector in the urban areas since steel rebars are<br />

used for construction of roofs in urban areas, whereas G60<br />

steel rebars are mainly used to cater large infrastructure<br />

projects market. On the other hand since girders and t-iron<br />

are products used for construction of roofs in rural areas,<br />

therefore they are used to target the rural housing market.<br />

The diversified product and market mix of the company has<br />

been carefully designed to mitigate different risks especially<br />

political risk. Currently the primary focus of the Company<br />

is on the housing sector in both rural and urban areas, with<br />

secondary focus on large infrastructure project market.<br />

Mughal steel is amongst the top companies in the steel<br />

sector with such diversified product and market mix. Being in<br />

the industry for over 5 decades has enabled the Company to<br />

effectively compete with existing companies in the industry.<br />

Moreover, the CAPEX in recent years and the announced<br />

expansion plans to achieve cost efficiency and backward<br />

integration have enabled the Company to attain additional<br />

competitive advantage.<br />
