La X Asamblea de la Comisión
Interamericana de Agricultura
Orgánica (CIAO), realizada en Cusco,
reunió a 11 países de Latinoamérica,
además de España, con el objetivo de
tomar acuerdos para consolidar acciones
de control y fomento de esta
modalidad agrícola. SENASA, autoridad
nacional encargada de la fiscalización
de la producción orgánica a
nivel nacional, también fue parte del
evento.
Los países miembros de la asamblea
expusieron los avances realizados
en la materia y acordaron
armonizar, internacionalmente, las
medidas aduaneras que permitirán
identificar el ingreso y la salida de
productos orgánicos a través de la
incorporación de dos dígitos en las
partidas arancelarias exclusivas que
rigen para ellos. De igual manera, se
fortalecerán los lazos de comunicación
a fin de promover la cooperación

El encuentro propició que la CIAO
y la Asociación Ecovalia (empresa privada
española), suscribieran un convenio
dirigido a la cooperación en el
registro y a la autorización de insumos
utilizables en la producción orgánica.
Específicamente, se trata de productos
enfocados en el manejo de plagas y
enfermedades, así como fertilizantes,
enmiendas y sustratos de cultivo.
