INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICES<br />
“It is imperative to adopt technology to take education to the next level”<br />
JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research has ambitious plans for growth as part of its strategic directions.<br />
It is imperative that the Technology implementations must keep pace with the growth of the organization and<br />
also to adhere to the guidelines of Government and Statutory bodies.<br />
The Information Technology & Services (ITS) Department has ambitious plans for ICT implementation in the<br />
organization and is working towards achieving the planned programs. Many programs have been implemented<br />
and many are in the pipeline to be implemented.<br />
As part of our support to Active Learning and Pedagogical Innovations we have set up a Cloud based IT<br />
framework called JSSU Online through which we are now able to deliver our Educational resources to students<br />
anywhere and anytime on any computing device. JSSU Online is envisaged to provide a host of capabilities<br />
around educational resource delivery and control in phased manner to all the constituent colleges of JSS AHER<br />
as part of its IT Roadmap. Some of the capabilities which are going live this year are:<br />
1. Digital Content Management at Course / Subject / Chapter and Topic level<br />
Digital Content including all the course material used for teaching can be made available to Students as<br />
part of making the content available to students outside the classroom.<br />
2. Sessional Marks Module<br />
This module helps the teaching staff to manage the sessional marks for students and making it available<br />
on the student portal.<br />
3. Student Feedback Module<br />
Student 3600 Feedback Module enables taking feedback from students on various parameters about the<br />
faculty. This is mandated by the Apex bodies like MCI, DCI and PCI.<br />
4. MCQ Module<br />
MCQ Module enables Teaching Staff to administer MCQ based Examination with the ability to build a<br />
Question bank with difficulty levels and then administering to the targeted audience anytime.<br />

The IT Department has ambitious plans for ICT implementation in the University and are working<br />

5. Student Attendance<br />
Student Attendance module enables to mark attendance at the classroom digitally. All consolidated<br />
reports are generated without much efforts at any point of time. This would have taken weeks for manual<br />
compilation of data.<br />
6. Teachers Diary<br />
Compliance of Teaching plan or Lesson Plan is now automated thru Teachers Diary<br />
7. Electronic Leave Management<br />
This module manages the Leave electronically for the entire University and its constituent colleges<br />
including JSS Hospital and College of Pharmacy, Ooty. This module saves almost around 60k paper<br />
sheets per annum.<br />
8. eTapaal<br />
eTapaal is an initiative of the University to digitise all communications including all circulars, memos,<br />
letters, approvals etc. This application is envisaged to save a huge quantity of stationery and efforts<br />
for despatch. Now most of the communication is sent thru eTapaal saving time, effort and money thus<br />
supporting go green initiative of the University.
