Outreach Activities<br />
Swachh Bharat Summer Internship<br />
NSS wing of The Department of Water and Health – Faculty of Life Sciences conducted the Swachh Bharat<br />
Summer Internship-<strong>2018</strong> From 17 – 7-<strong>2018</strong> to 28-07-<strong>2018</strong>. The details of the activities are as follows :<br />
Day 1: 17th July, <strong>2018</strong>: First meeting regarding the number of students participating in the internship work<br />
(SBSI)<br />
Day 2: 18thJuly, <strong>2018</strong>: Discussion about the topics to be done for the internship work.<br />
Day 3: 19thJuly, <strong>2018</strong>: Grouping of the members based on the topics. Students were divided to three groups<br />
namely: 1. Best out of waste 2. Solid Waste Management 3. Water & Health Management<br />
Day 4: 20thJuly, <strong>2018</strong>: Discussion with faculty members for suggestions for the internship work.<br />
Day 5: 21stJuly, <strong>2018</strong>: Preparation of banners & placards on cleanliness and hygiene.<br />
Day 5 and 6: 23rd and 24thJuly, <strong>2018</strong>: Scripting & practising for the street play. Execution of the SwachhBharat<br />
Summer Internship <strong>2018</strong><br />
Day 7: 25 th July, <strong>2018</strong>: Starting of awareness campaign at Suttur & near by villages. First campaign was at<br />
JSS Primary School, Suttur. Students went to classes of the Primary School of JSS and created awareness on<br />
best out of waste. They explained to them about how to reuse plastic, newspapers etc. Students were taken<br />
on Educational tour to Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur in July <strong>2018</strong> to create awareness on easy implantation of<br />
vermicompost.<br />
Day 8: 26thJuly, <strong>2018</strong>: Students went to the village Geemarahalli, where they conducted a walkathon on<br />
importance of cleanliness and hygiene. After the rally, they performed a street play on spreading of diseases<br />
due to open defecation. Students also gave a demonstration on how to reuse plastics & newspapers.<br />
