I. Workshop on Scientific Writing for I year Postgraduates:<br />

28th July 2017<br />

The Medical Education Unit conducted a One day workshop on ‘Scientific Writing’ for the I year Postgraduates<br />

of 2017-18 Batch on 28th July 2017 from 10.00 AM to 04.00 PM at Sri Rajendra Centenary Auditorium, JSS<br />

Hospital, Mysuru. A total 120 Postgraduate students of MD/MS and Diploma attended the programme.<br />

II. Workshop on Dissertation Writing for Final Year Postgraduates:<br />

11th August 2017.<br />

The Medical Education Unit conducted a One day workshop on ‘Dissertation Writing’ for the Final year<br />

Postgraduates (MD/MS/MCh/DM/MSc/MPH) on 11th August 2017 from 10.00 AM to 04.00 PM at Sri Rajendra<br />

Centenary Auditorium, JSS Hospital, Mysuru. A total of 125 Postgraduate students attended the programme.<br />

III. <strong>Report</strong> of Foundation Course organised for 1st MBBS students 2017-18 Batch<br />

Medical Council of India Initiative:The undergraduate medical education programme is designed with a goal<br />

to create an “Indian Medical Graduate” (IMG) possessing requisite knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and<br />

responsiveness, so that he or she may function appropriately and effectively as a physician of first contact of<br />

the community while being globally relevant. With this intention MCI had planned to initiate foundation course.<br />

The goal of the Foundation Course is to prepare a student to study medicine effectively.<br />

JSS Medical College Initiative:Understanding the benefits of the program and also adjusting to dearth of time<br />

due to delayed admissions through NEET, a three day foundation course was planned by Medical Education Unit<br />

of JSS Medical College.<br />

The program was held from 30th August 2017 to 1st September 2017 at Gallery 6 of Medical College.Dr.Vinutha<br />

S P, Assistant professor, Dept of Anatomy, JSS Medical College moderated Day 1 and 3 programs and Dr Priya<br />

SA Assistant professor, Dept of Physiology for Day 2.<br />

The highlights of the program<br />

DAY -1: 30/08/2017<br />

Topic 1: Coping with medical stress by Ms.Haleem Unissa, clinical psychologist in JSS Hospital.<br />

Topic 2: Dr Praveen Kulkarni, Assistant professor, Dept of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College, delivered<br />

a talk on topic “Communication Skills”.<br />

Topic 3: “Time management” by Principal, Dr H Basavanagowdappa, Professor of medicine, JSS Medical<br />

College.<br />

Topic 4: Dr M S Vishweshwara, chief radiation oncologist & medical superintendent, Bharath Hospital & Institute<br />

of Oncology, Mysore delivered talk on “Stress Management”.<br />

Day 2: 31st August 2017<br />

Topic 5: “Professionalism” by Dr.Balaraj B.M, Vice Principal, JSSMC, Mysuru.<br />

Topic 6: “How to study?” by Dr. Deepa Bhat, Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy, JSSMC, Mysuru.<br />

Topic 7: Mentoring by Dr.Pushpa V.H. Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, JSSMC, Mysuru.
