Hands-On Workshop On Individually Trained Oral Prophylaxis<br />
A one day Hands-on workshop on individually trained oral prophylaxis was organized by Department of<br />
Periodontology, JSS Dental College and Hospital in association with Curaden India on 26th February <strong>2018</strong>.<br />
Dr. Galabov Lyubomir from Bulgaria representing the Curaden Company based at Switzerland was the speaker<br />
and trainer for the program.<br />
The program highlighted on training dentists in order to change people’s understanding of oral prophylaxis in<br />
long term. A team of Dentists from Curaden India headed by Dr. Chethan Nanda Kumar trained the participants<br />
of the program. The faculty and post graduate students from the Department of Periodontology and Department<br />
of Public health Dentistry participated in the program.<br />
PathoPrayog-6: “Chit-Chat Erudition”<br />
The Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology, JSS Dental College and Hospital, A constituent college of<br />
JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru organized an Intercollege workshop cum competitions<br />
titled PATHOPRAYOG – 6: “CHIT-CHAT ERUDITION” on 2nd May <strong>2018</strong> for under- graduate students. The event<br />
was presided by Dr. Ravindra S. Principal, Dr. Usha Hegde, Professor and Head, Department of Oral Pathology<br />
and Microbiology, JSS DCH and Dr. Kumaraswamy KL Professor and Head, Department of Oral Pathology and<br />
Microbiology, Farooquia Dental College and Hospital. The program commenced with the Hands-on workshop<br />
titled “Structured Oral Examination” conducted by Dr. Jaishankar H.P Reader, Department of Oral Medicine and<br />
Radiology, JSS DCH. The workshop was followed by Quiz, E-Poster and Patho- Portrayal competitions. About<br />
107 delegates from various dental colleges participated in the event. The sessions were interactive, informative<br />
and fun-filled. In addition to the program- subject toppers in both theory and practical work of JSS DCH were<br />
awarded prizes to encourage their academic endeavors.<br />

Titled Aesthetic Restorations:<br />
The Department of Conservative Dentistry and<br />
Endodontics conducted a CDE program on Aesthetic<br />
Dentistry on 16th October 2017. The program was<br />
addressed by Guest Speakers Dr Arvind Shenoy and<br />
Dr Arun Jayasheel. The topics covered included Dental<br />
Ceramics, Veneers and Aesthetic restorations. There<br />
was a live demonstration for cementation protocol<br />
for ceramic restorations like Porcelain Veneer and<br />
Zirconia Crown by Dr Arvind Shenoy. The event was<br />
attended by more than 150 participants from all over<br />
Karnataka.<br />

CDE & Orthodontists’ Day-2017 Celebration:<br />
Department of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics celebrated Orthodontic week from 3rd October onwards.<br />
The celebrations began with various competitions for the students, like flower carpet competition, smile<br />
photography contest etc. The Orthodontic Week culminated with Orthodontists’ Day celebration along with twoday<br />
CDE programme on 7th & Clinical Photography workshop on 8th October 2017. As a social responsibility<br />
initiative measure, three students were issues orthodontic kits todeliver free orthodontic treatment to the needy<br />
patients. The Chief Guest for the CDE Programme was Dr Sridhar Premkumar, Prof , Dept of Orthodontics,<br />
Tamil Nadu Govt Dental College , Chennai who was also one of the guest speaker who spoke on “ Conventional<br />
& Unconventional Management of Class II malocclusion”. The Guest of Honour for the programme was Dr.B<br />
Suresh, Vice Chancellor, JSS AHER , Mysuru. The other guest speakers were Dr Aravind M, Reader , Dept of<br />
Orthodontics, KLE Dental College , Bengaluru & Dr Jaishankar HP, Prof, Dept of Oral Medicine & Radiology,<br />
JSS Dental College & Hospital, Mysuru who deliberated on “ Lingual Orthodontics – An overview” & “ CBCT in<br />
Orthodontics” respectively. Dr Kuldeep Dmello was the course director for the Clinical Photography workshop<br />
on 8th October who spoke extensively on the “Basics on Digital Camera & Photography” followed by hands on<br />
demonstration of the Clinical photography. The CDE programme was attended by faculty & staff from various<br />
colleges across Karnataka like- Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences, Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences, VS<br />
Dental College, Hassanambha Dental College, Hassan, Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences, Virajpet.
