INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE (ICEHPN-2017)<br />
A two-day International Conference on Environment, Health and Policy Nexus was organized by the Division<br />
of Environmental Science, Department of Water & Health and Health System & Management Studies on 27-<br />
28 July, 2017 at JSS AHER, Mysuru. Dr. David Jenkins, Plymouth University, UK inaugurated the Conference.<br />
Dr.Dattatri K. Nagesha, Head, DW&H, JSSU welcomed the gathering. Prof. S.P. Manjunatha, Secretary, JSS<br />
Mahavidyapeeta, Mysuru spoke about environment and health issues across the globe as well as ill effects of<br />
pollution and its impact on the quality of life. Later Dr. David Jenkins spoke about the impending water crisis<br />
and havoc caused on the population of India.<br />
In all, about 300 delegates, including invitees and experts of India and abroad (U.K., Namibia, Malaysia, Africa,<br />
Nepal and Iran) representing many institutions: Anna and Crescent Universities, Chennai; Central University,<br />
Kasargod; Bangalore University; IISc, Bangalore; Bharathidasan University, Tamil Nadu; CSIR-CGCRI, Kolkata,<br />
IGBC Green Healthcare Rating etc. participated in the Conference.<br />
International Day of Immunology - <strong>2018</strong><br />
To mark the International Day of Immunology - <strong>2018</strong>, the Division of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics,<br />
Department of Water and Health – Faculty of Life Sciences (D&W - FLS), JSS Academy of Higher Education<br />
and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, in association with Indian Immunological Society (IIS), All India Institute of<br />
Medical Sciences, New Delhi, organised a One day program on the theme “Life Style Management and the<br />
Immune System” on Apr.30 at JSS Medical Institution campus, Mysuru.<br />
The Chairman, Prof. Chandrashekarappa, and the HOD, Dr. Dattatri K Nagesha, D&W – FLS, graced the<br />
occasion. There was a special lecture by Dr. Joseph Kingston, Scientist, Defence Food Research Laboratory,<br />
who conveyed the key message on how lifestyle management plays a major role on improving good immune<br />
system.<br />

“Current Trends in Hospital Dietetics”<br />
Division of Nutrition and Dietetics, Department of Water and Health, Faculty of Life Sciences, JSS Academy of<br />
Higher Education and Research, Mysuru in collaboration with Indian Dietetic Association, IDA, Mysuru chapter<br />
organized a day work shop on “Current trends in hospital dietetics” on 24th February, <strong>2018</strong>, at Gallery 6,<br />
JSS Medical College, Mysuru. The inaugurals was presided by Dr Asna Urooj, Professor, Chairperson, DOS<br />
in Food Science and Nutrition, University of Mysore, President, Indian Dietetic Association, Mysuru chapter,<br />
Dr. Kushalappa PA, Director Academics, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, Prof. GK<br />
Chandrashekarappa, Chairman, Dr Vanitha Reddy, co-ordinator, Nutrition and Dietetics, Ms Greena Menezes,<br />
Secretary, IDA-Mysuru. PG Students of JSS AHER, Mysuru, University of Mysore, Research Scholars and<br />
members of IDA attended the workshop. The speakers namely Dr Asna Urooj, gave introduction to the subject<br />
of Nutrition and dietetics and its importance, Mrs Greena (Chief Dietician, Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru)<br />
spoke about the importance of therapeutic diets used in hospitals, Mr.Chandan Vinay (Dietician, ESI hospital<br />
Bangalore) emphasized the difference and significance of home based enteral feeds.<br />
