Medical College and Research Institute, Krishnarajendra Hospital, Mysore, Mysuru and for Academic Pharmacy<br />

- Dr. D. Vishakante Gowda, Professor and Head, Dept. of Pharmaceutics, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru.<br />

During functions, Ms. Ashwini Prem Kumar, B. Pharm alumnus was awarded with Hosakote Gurumallapa<br />

Award for securing Highest marks in B.Pharm, Ms. Anusha Raj, M. Pharm alumnus, was awarded with Triveni<br />

Pharma Laboratories Award for securing highest marks in M.Pharm Pharmaceutics branch, Mr. Gausal<br />

Aslam of D. Pharm was awarded with Late. Umashankar Award For securing highest marks in I year D.Pharm<br />

Pharmacognosy subject by Dr. K.S. Rangappa, Chief guest of the function.<br />

During event, winners’ cup of Tablet Cup II edition 2017 received by Mr. Laksmeesha, captain of Drugist and<br />

Chemist Association, Mysuru.<br />

56th National Pharmacy week celebrations 7th – 10th December 2017<br />

An initiative of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) “National Pharmacy Week” is a channel to create<br />

awareness among the public about the profession of pharmacist and the role it plays to make a healthier<br />

India. The theme for this year is “ Know your Medicines: Ask your Pharmacist “. This year’s theme reflects the<br />

important role of pharmacists in providing care to the public, and also to highlight the emotional connection<br />

they have with their patients. Acknowledging the invaluable contributions that pharmacists make to healthcare<br />

system, IPA, Mysore Branch was celebrating 56th National Pharmacy week from 7th – 10th December 2017.<br />

7th December 2017<br />

As a part of the 56th National Pharmacy Week Celebrations, Department of Pharmacy Practice, JSS College<br />

of Pharmacy, Mysuru in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Mysuru Branch organized a<br />

Blood Donation Camp on 7th December 2017 in the premises of JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru.<br />

8th December 2017<br />

On 8th December National Pharmacy Week Celebrations function was held at Sri Rajendra auditorium, JSS<br />

College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr Anila B, Senior Marketing Officer, Bureau of<br />

Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI), Pradhan Mantri Janaushadi Kendra (PMBJK), Karnataka. The<br />

President of the event was Dr. B. Suresh, President, Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi and Vice Chancellor,<br />

Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University, Mysuru. They addressed the gathering on the theme of National<br />

Pharmacy Week.<br />

9th December 2017<br />

Pharma rally was organized on 9th December 2017. The rally commenced from JSS College of Pharmacy,<br />

Mysuru and end at Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple, Mysore Palace Premises. About 1000 participants from<br />

various pharmacy colleges and other associations from Mysuru participated in the rally.<br />

10th December 2017<br />

Department of Pharmacy Practice, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, in collaboration with Indian Pharmaceutical<br />

Association (IPA), Mysore Branch organized a Health Screening Camp for the benefit of public of Mysuru city<br />

on 10th December 2017 at four different locations Viz., Bal Bhavan, Chamundi Hills Footsteps, Kukkaralli Lake<br />

Gate and Lalith Mahal Gate between 06.00 AM and 09.00 AM. The aim of the health screening camp is to<br />

sensitize the people about the importance of regular monitoring of health and safe use of medications.<br />

1. Outreach programs- Dr. K.L.Krishna, as University NSS program coordinator, organized seed ball sowing<br />

program at Muthathi Forest, Malavalli Tq. on 16th July 2017. About 4 lakh seed balls were sowed on that<br />

day and about 70 NSS volunteers/officers were participated.<br />

2. Department of Pharmacy Practice, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, organized a Health Screening Camp<br />

for the public of Mysuru on 21st September 2017 at three different venues namely Balbhavan, Chamundi<br />

hills footsteps and Lalith Mahal gate between 06.00 AM and 09.00 AM.<br />

3. Department of Pharmacy Practice organized an outreach program to create awareness about HPV infection<br />

and vaccination among school children at FIVE different schools located in Mysore city.<br />

4. Department of Pharmacy Practice actively participated in the Forensic Fair 2017 organised by JSS Medical<br />

College, Mysuru held at JSS Medical Institutions Campus on 21st& 22nd December 2017. Through this,<br />

department has created awareness on poison information services provided by the department and also<br />

about the prevention of accidental poisoning and first aid measures among school children and general<br />

public.<br />

5. Department of Pharmacy Practice had a stall atSuttur Jathra Exhibition during 13th – 18th January <strong>2018</strong><br />

to create awareness amongst the general public about chronic diseases and also to educate and provide<br />

medication counseling.
