Howard Student Exchange Program<br />

As a part of MOU between JSS AHER, Mysuru and Howard University, USA, one student from Howard University,<br />

USA, Ronald Smith, arrived at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru on student exchange program, on 30th August<br />

2017. The experiential program was to expose the student to an international rotation focused on public<br />

health and infectious diseases that are common in developing countries. The length of the training was for a<br />

period of 5 weeks which commenced from 31, August to 23, September 2017. He was introduced to Clinical<br />

Pharmacy department activities and very briefed about ambulatory patient care. He was posted to Medicine<br />

and Paediatrics department for a period of one week each to learn about most common diseases and clinical<br />

pharmacy activities. He visited various departments like Pulmonology and DOTS centre, Immunization centre,<br />

Cardiology, Emergency, Psychiatry, Dermatology and Gastroenterology departments. He had taken up various<br />

cases from the departments and discussed them with their respective facilitators. He had presented a case<br />

on Malaria and its treatment. He attended the case presentations with Interns. He was posted to Asha Kirana<br />

Hospital and Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology for a period of one week to learn about infectious<br />

diseases. He was posted in JSS college of Pharmacy, Ooty in the last week to give them an experience on<br />

health settings in Government Hospital.<br />

University of North Carolina Student Exchange Program<br />

As a part of MOU between JSS AHER, Mysuru and University of North Carolina, Chapell Hill USA, two students<br />

from University of North Carolina, Chapell Hill, USA, Ms. Bianka Ajith Patel and Mr. William Heilman, arrived at<br />

JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru on student exchange program, on 2nd October 2017. The experiential program<br />

was to expose the student to an international rotation focused on public health and infectious diseases that are<br />

common in developing countries. The length of the training was for a period of 5 weeks which commenced<br />

from 3, October to 27, October 2017. They were introduced to Clinical Pharmacy department activities and very<br />

briefed about ambulatory patient care. They were posted to Medicine and Paediatrics department for a period<br />

of one week each to learn about most common diseases and clinical pharmacy activities. They visited various<br />

departments like Pulmonology and DOTS centre, Immunization centre, Cardiology, Emergency, Psychiatry,<br />

Dermatology and Gastroenterology departments. They had taken up various cases from the departments and<br />

discussed them with their respective facilitators. They had presented a case one each on Paediatric Diabetic<br />

Ketoacidosis and Malaria. They attended the case presentations with Interns. They were posted to Asha Kirana<br />

Hospital and Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology for a period of one week to learn about infectious<br />

diseases. They were posted in JSS college of Pharmacy, Ooty in the last week to give them an experience on<br />

health settings in Government Hospital.<br />
