2.5. TEENS TIME
NEW: IN FAMILY MAGIC HIGHLIGHT
CLUBS E-SPORT TOURNAMENT,
ONCE A WEEK
GENERAL INFORMATION
TEENS NEED A PROGRAM FULL OF ACTION,
EXCITEMENT BUT ALSO CHILL-OUT PHASES.
THEY ARE NO CHILDREN ANYMORE AND NO
ADULTS YET.
Teens want to be among themselves, and enjoy their
holiday without their parents, in their group. However
there are some requirements related to behaviour and
keeping up to rules, being aware of risks etc. that might
be addressed to them. Every day teens want to be
motivated anew and also face new challenges. You as
entertainers are model and idol to them. Things you
like and find cool, are also cool for them, if you transport
it to them in a cool and relaxed way. Everything
you will show serves as a model for the teens.
Capturing and keeping teens is extremely important.
Firstly determine what they like, what is fun for them
and which activities they are interested in. Then they
will be on your side. The group feeling is an absolute
must for teens. Set the case you realise that more and
more teens are leaving during the program this is a sign
for the entertainer that the program is not exciting
enough! For teens flexibility and responding to their
interests is even more important. Activities always need
to be sold in a highly motivated manner, and then theyfind
it cool and like to join in.
For the teens’ program there is no daily theme as there
is for the Minis and kids. It is very important to create
the program varied, exciting and individual.
The current program is displayed on the information
board. The weekly program is on display at the Children
Club and can be handed out to the parents and children.
Do not forget to inform the parents in the beginning
that the teens’ program only serves at guideline, as
we individually correspond to their needs. The team at
the MAGIC Radio knows at all times where the teen’s
club is.
Also for this age group the course and methodology of
the program has to be considered. It is all about excitement,
action and group dynamics.
Major activities at the pool or flash mobs are cool and
teens really like them.
Supervisory duty: The parents sign the registration
form, the teens come and leave as they want to – they
need to deregister at the entertainer. It is an incitement
to offer such a program no kid wants to leave earlier
than the program ends.
The safety aspect always has to be considered also in
the teen’s program. They can move around freely, but
keep your eyes and ears open. Mainly in the evenings
the entertainer need to take good care the teens do
not consume any alcoholic drinks. Teenagers are not
allowed to participate in the program when drunk.
Consider the national youth protection regulation.
Swimming with teens:
n Swimming in the sea only with green flag
n In the pool, if not too crowded
n Determine clear rules in advance with the teens
n Always keep an overview
n Are there any teenagers allergic?
n If the group is too big, look for alternatives, i.e.
water fight
n Maximum amount: 40
Rules: Can be determined and extended by you.
Sometimes this age group is very loud and restless.
Discuss rules with the teenagers and emphasise the
importance of these rules.
n What are they allowed to do? When is it enough?
n Set your personal limits.
n Sun cream is mandatory, hat or cap is of advantage
when you are strolling through the premises with
the teenagers. Communicate to the Youngster.
n Older ones look after younger ones or after children
who are a bit shy.
Do not forget to consider the interface between the
entertainers and the hotel staff, always check in
advance what is possible and what not.
