Wo ist denn der Daumen?

(melody of Are you sleeping brother John)

Wo ist denn der Daumen, wo ist denn der

Daumen?

(hide both hands behind the back)

Da ist er,

(Hold one hand up and show the thumb!)

da ist er!

(Hold the second hand up and show the

thumb)

Guten Tag, wie geht es Dir?

(Wiggle with the left thumb to the right thumb.)

Danke, ganz vorzüglich!

(Wiggle with the right thumb to the left

thumb.)

Weg ist er!

(Hide one hand behind the back)

Weg ist er!

(Hide the other hand behind the back!)

Liederspiel

Taler, Taler Du musst wandern!

Taler, Taler Du musst wandern

von dem einen Kind zum anderen.

Das ist herrlich, das ist schön,

Taler lass Dich nur nicht sehn.

(Children are sitting as close as possible

together in a circle. One child is sitting in the

middle and the others try to pass a button

or coin around while singing without the

child in the middle realising it. If the player in

the middle sees how a child passes the coin,

they swap places.)

Guten Morgen …

Guten Morgen, guten Morgen

Wir winken uns zu,

wir nicken uns zu,

wir blinzeln uns zu,

wir lächeln uns zu.

Guten Morgen, guten Morgen

erst ich und dann Du!

Tuff tuff tuff, ruft die Eisenbahn,

wer will mit, der hängt sich dran.

Alleine fahren mag ich nicht,

drum nehme ich den / die … mit.

(Adult start walking around saying this text,

once for each time – the child the follows

and walks around with him. At end all children

walk as one long snake …)

Itsy-bitsy spider

The itsy-bitsy spider,

Climbed up the water spout,

(Alternately touching the thumb of one hand

and the index finger of the other)

Down came the rain

(both hands in the arm and wiggle all fingers

as you lower hands)

and washed the spider out

(Swipe hands to each side)

Out came the sunshine,

And dried up all the rain

(raise both hands and make a big circle to

show the sun)

and the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the

spout again

(same as first actions)

This little piggy

This little piggy went to market

(wiggle the big toe)

This little piggy stayed at home

(wiggle the index toe

This little piggy had roast beef

(wiggle the middle toe)

This little piggy had none

(wiggle the next toe)

and this little piggy went weee weee wee

(wiggle the little toe)

all the way home

(tickle them)

Ring-a-ring o’roses

Ring a ring o’roses a pocket full of posies,

(everyone holds hand in a circle and they

move around in a circle)

a tissue you, a tissue you,

(everyone pretends to sneeze, covering face

with hands)

we all fall down

(everyone falls to the floor)

Fishes in the water, fishes in the sea,

(wave hands in a line like a fish movement)

we all jump with a 1, 2, 3

(everyone jumps up together)
