area focuses on <strong>the</strong> analysis <strong>of</strong> precontact migratory movements.<br />

Andrea Cuc<strong>in</strong>a is a full- time research pr<strong>of</strong>essor “A” at <strong>the</strong> Facultad de Ciencias<br />

Antropológicas <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán <strong>in</strong> Mérida, Mexico. He<br />

received his Ph.D. <strong>in</strong> paleopathology at <strong>the</strong> School <strong>of</strong> Medic<strong>in</strong>e, Catholic University<br />

<strong>of</strong> Rome. His research <strong>in</strong>terests <strong>in</strong>clude skeletal biology, with an emphasis on<br />

dental anthropology. He is currently <strong>in</strong>vestigat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> peopl<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Caribbean</strong><br />

before <strong>the</strong> European contact as well as bioarchaeology <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ancient Maya populations.<br />

Gareth Davies is full pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>in</strong> petrology <strong>and</strong> chair <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Petrology s<strong>in</strong>ce 2004 at <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Earth <strong>and</strong> Life Sciences, Free University Amsterdam.<br />

He is <strong>the</strong> editor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Journal <strong>of</strong> Petrology.<br />

Hylke de Jong obta<strong>in</strong>ed his master’s degree <strong>from</strong> Leiden University <strong>in</strong> 2003 specializ<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>Caribbean</strong> archaeology. His <strong>the</strong>sis was a pilot study apply<strong>in</strong>g 87 Sr/ 86 Sr<br />

analysis to <strong>the</strong> site <strong>of</strong> Anse à la Gourde, Guadeloupe. Currently, he is do<strong>in</strong>g his<br />

Ph.D. (Faculty <strong>of</strong> Arts Scholarship) at <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Bristol assess<strong>in</strong>g past human<br />

diet <strong>and</strong> mobility through changes <strong>in</strong> 87 Sr/ 86 Sr along tooth enamel us<strong>in</strong>g Laser<br />

Ablation MC-ICPMS.<br />

Christy de Mille has been <strong>in</strong>volved with <strong>the</strong> Antigua <strong>Archaeological</strong> Project<br />

for 12 years. She currently codirects an archaeological field school on Antigua run<br />

through <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Archaeology, University <strong>of</strong> Calgary. She is also employed<br />

as a consult<strong>in</strong>g archaeologist at Bison Historical Services Ltd., Calgary, Alberta,<br />

Canada. Her research <strong>in</strong>terests <strong>in</strong>clude <strong>the</strong> Antiguan Preceramic <strong>and</strong> Saladoid<br />

lapidary technology.<br />

Cor<strong>in</strong>ne H<strong>of</strong>man is full pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Caribbean</strong> archaeology at <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong><br />

Archaeology at Leiden University <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ne<strong>the</strong>rl<strong>and</strong>s. She has been conduct<strong>in</strong>g archaeological<br />

research on several isl<strong>and</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lesser Antilles for which she was<br />

awarded grants <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ne<strong>the</strong>rl<strong>and</strong>s Foundation for Scientific Research (NWO).<br />

Her current research <strong>the</strong>mes center on mobility <strong>and</strong> exchange <strong>and</strong> sociopolitical<br />

organization <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> precolonial <strong>Caribbean</strong>.<br />

Menno Hoogl<strong>and</strong> is associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor at <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Archaeology at Leiden<br />

University. In 2004 he was awarded a grant by <strong>the</strong> Ne<strong>the</strong>rl<strong>and</strong>s Foundation for Scientific<br />

Research (NWO) for <strong>the</strong> program “Houses for <strong>the</strong> Liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dead.”<br />

The project focuses on <strong>the</strong> organization <strong>of</strong> Taíno households <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dom<strong>in</strong>ican<br />

Republic (a.d. 1000–1500) <strong>and</strong> is executed <strong>in</strong> cooperation with <strong>the</strong> Museo del<br />

Hombre Dom<strong>in</strong>icano.<br />

Charlene Dixon Hutcheson is an <strong>in</strong>dependent archaeologist <strong>in</strong> Roanoke, Virg<strong>in</strong>ia.<br />

She has been work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Bahamas s<strong>in</strong>ce 1995 on Lucayan basketry impressed<br />

pottery through <strong>the</strong> Lucayan Ecological Archaeology Project under <strong>the</strong><br />

direction <strong>of</strong> Mary Jane Berman <strong>and</strong> Perry L. Gnivecki. She has also excavated <strong>in</strong><br />
