Wales, U.K. s<strong>in</strong>ce 1994, <strong>and</strong>, s<strong>in</strong>ce 2002, has worked pr<strong>in</strong>cipally with <strong>the</strong> Llangynidr<br />

History Society on two medieval sites <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Brecon Beacons mounta<strong>in</strong> range.<br />

Daan Isendoorn is a Ph.D. student at <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Archaeology, Leiden University.<br />

His research focus is on <strong>the</strong> identification <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> provenance areas <strong>of</strong> precolonial<br />

exchange items <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Caribbean</strong> with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> NWO- funded Vidi- project<br />

“Mobility <strong>and</strong> Exchange: Dynamics <strong>of</strong> Material, Social, <strong>and</strong> Ideological Relations<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pre- Columbian Insular <strong>Caribbean</strong>,” directed by Pr<strong>of</strong>. dr. Cor<strong>in</strong>ne H<strong>of</strong>man.<br />

Loe Jacobs is a ceramist at <strong>the</strong> Ceramic Laboratory <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Archaeology,<br />

Leiden University. He has been <strong>in</strong>volved, among o<strong>the</strong>rs, <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Leiden <strong>Caribbean</strong><br />

research projects s<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong> 1980s <strong>and</strong> is coauthor <strong>of</strong> many publications on<br />

pottery technology.<br />

William F. Keegan is curator <strong>of</strong> <strong>Caribbean</strong> archaeology at <strong>the</strong> Florida Museum<br />

<strong>of</strong> Natural History, <strong>and</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> anthropology <strong>and</strong> Lat<strong>in</strong> American Studies at<br />

<strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Florida, Ga<strong>in</strong>esville. He has directed research throughout <strong>the</strong> <strong>Caribbean</strong><br />

with a focus on social organization <strong>and</strong> cultural diversity.<br />

Harold J. Kelly obta<strong>in</strong>ed his master’s degree <strong>in</strong> archaeology at Leiden University<br />

<strong>in</strong> 2003 <strong>and</strong> s<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong>n has been work<strong>in</strong>g at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Archaeological</strong> Museum <strong>of</strong><br />

Aruba <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Scientific Department. He is specialized <strong>in</strong> experimental archaeology<br />

<strong>and</strong> use- wear analysis on coral artifacts. He publishes on a regular bases <strong>in</strong> local<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational magaz<strong>in</strong>es, with rock art <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> protection <strong>of</strong> cultural heritage<br />

as special po<strong>in</strong>ts <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>terest.<br />

Sebastiaan Knippenberg is currently work<strong>in</strong>g for Archol BV, a contract archaeology<br />

firm associated with Leiden University. He conducted <strong>and</strong> participated<br />

<strong>in</strong> many fieldwork projects <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> nor<strong>the</strong>rn Lesser Antilles. Knippenberg recently<br />

f<strong>in</strong>ished his Ph.D. dissertation about stone artifact production <strong>and</strong> exchange dur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>the</strong> Ceramic Age <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> nor<strong>the</strong>rn Lesser Antilles. Dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> course <strong>of</strong> this<br />

Ph.D. work he visited many isl<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> studied collections <strong>from</strong> many sites.<br />

Yvonne M. J. Lammers- Keijsers is prepar<strong>in</strong>g a Ph.D. <strong>the</strong>sis at Leiden University<br />

on <strong>the</strong> functional analysis <strong>of</strong> shell tools <strong>and</strong> fl<strong>in</strong>t <strong>and</strong> stone implements <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

pre- Columbian sites <strong>of</strong> Morel <strong>and</strong> Anse à la Gourde, Guadeloupe. She is currently<br />

work<strong>in</strong>g for The Foundation for Dutch Archaeology.<br />

Michaela Lucci, Ph.D., is contract research collaborator <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Human <strong>and</strong> Animal Biology at <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Rome “La Sapienza.” She has participated<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> studies regard<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> <strong>Caribbean</strong> precontact populations exam<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

anthropological rema<strong>in</strong>s <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dom<strong>in</strong>ican Republic, <strong>the</strong> U.S. Virg<strong>in</strong> Isl<strong>and</strong>s, <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong> Florida. She is a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Italian archaeo- anthropological mission <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Dom<strong>in</strong>ican Republic.<br />

Fern<strong>and</strong>o Luna Calderón has been director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Physical Anthropology<br />

<strong>and</strong> director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dom<strong>in</strong>ican Museo del Hombre, <strong>and</strong> afterwards director<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Museo Nacional de Historia Natural, a role he held to <strong>the</strong> day <strong>of</strong> his<br />

premature death <strong>in</strong> 2005. He has taken part <strong>in</strong> all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> most important excava-<br />
