จากถ้ำาในธรรมชาติ เพิงหรือกระโจมกลางแจ้ง พัฒนามาจนเป็นอาคาร
ที่อยู่อาศัยถาวร และสถาปัตยกรรมในรูปแบบต่างๆ นั้น ระนาบเหนือ
ศีรษะที่ห่อหุ้มที่ว่างรอบตัวเราไว้ อาจไม่ใช่แค่เพียงการออกแบบเพื่อ
การปกป้องร่างกายมนุษย์จากสภาพแวดล้อมเท่านั้น แต่ยังเกี่ยวข้องกับ
มนุษย์ในเชิงจิตวิทยา ทั้งในแง่การคุ้มครองตัวเราให้รู้สึกปลอดภัยทาง
ใจ การหลบซ่อนจากภัยอันตราย หรือรวมไปถึงการเชิดชูคุณค่าที่เชื่อม
โยงกับความเชื่อ สิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของยุคสมัยนั้นๆ ความหมายทั้งหมดนี้ถูก
ถ่ายทอดผ่านรูปทรงของ “หลังคา” องค์ประกอบหนึ่งที่สำาคัญ และนับ
ได้ว่าสร้างความโดดเด่น เป็นสัญลักษณ์ของงานสถาปัตยกรรมเสมอมา
ตั้งแต่ยุคสมัยโบราณ จนกระทั่งในปัจจุบันที่ภาพจำาของระนาบหลังคาใน
งานสถาปัตยกรรมเริ่มเปลี่ยนแปลงไป เป็นอีกพื้นที่หนึ่งที่สามารถเข้า
ถึงได้มากขึ้น เป็นพื้นที่สาธารณะเชื่อมต่อกับบริบทของเมือง หรือทำ าให้
เกิดความคลุมเครือระหว่างความเป็นระนาบพื้นและระนาบหลังคา ที่ช่วย
สร้างประสบการณ์ใหม่ๆ ให้กับผู้ใช้ของอาคารและเมือง
“Up On the Roof” วารสารอาษาฉบับนี้จึงนำาเสนอผลงานออกแบบของ
สถาปนิกไทยที่น่าสนใจ ในการตีความ และนำาเสนอรูปทรงความหมาย
ของหลังคาใหม่ รวมถึงเทคนิคการก่อสร้างและวัสดุที่หลากหลาย ด้วย
ประเภทอาคารที่แตกต่างกัน ทั้งในระดับของอาคารสาธารณะ และบ้าน
พักอาศัย ในส่วนของ ASA Professional เป็นบทสนทนากับคุณคำารณ
สุทธิ จาก Eco Architect กับแนวทางการออกแบบสถาปัตยกรรมที่

From natural caves and outdoor makeshift shelters to permanent
residential buildings and all types and genres of architecture,
the overhead roof planes of these structures serve purposes
beyond shielding humans from their environment. The roof, a
fundamental element of architecture, carries with it a range of
psychological implications. It serves not only to provide a sense
of mental security and protection from harm, but also to embody
the values and sacred beliefs of diverse cultures throughout
history. The diverse interpretations and embodiments of meaning
are exemplified through the various sizes and forms of roofs.
The roof, an essential component of architectural design, holds
great significance in the symbolic representation of a structure.
Throughout history, the roof has undergone its own evolution,
and as time passes, people’s perception and memory of this
crucial architectural element continues to evolve, shaping the
way we view and appreciate it. No longer just a mere protective
covering, the roof has now emerged as a dynamic space that
is increasingly becoming accessible to the public. It has been
designed as public space that seamlessly connects buildings
to the various surroundings of towns and cities. There are times
when an interplay between the roof plane and floor surface can
evoke a sense of ambiguity, resulting in new experiences for both
inhabitants and the surrounding urban environment.
The latest issue of ASA Journal, themed “Up On the Roof,” brings
you incredible works by Thai architects that showcase their
unique interpretations and presentations of roofs, as well as a
diverse range of construction techniques and materials that are
tailored to suit the unique nature and physical characteristics of
each building. This issue showcases a diverse range of projects
that span across various scales, ranging from public structures
to residential buildings. For ASA Professional, we talked with
Khamron Sutthi, founder of Eco Architect, a design studio that
values the environment and user comfort in its architectural
approach. The issue additionally introduces SOS Architect.
ASA Material selects metal roofing materials that offer architects
and designers alternative solutions to the increasing threats posed
by climate change. Greater integration of augmented reality technologies
with the real physical world, as well as innovative building
techniques, will create new challenges for architects and professionals
in the industry. These challenges will span across various
aspects of architectural design, including the selection of materials,
the design of roofs, and the creation of architecture that is relevant
to the future context of the world, as architects will be driven to
consider and contemplate how their works can bring new meaning
and dimensions of experiences to the human race.
