โรงอุปรากรออสโลซึ่งออกแบบโดย Snøhetta เป็นโรงอุปรากร
ที่ปูด้วยหินอ่อนเหมือนกันกับอาสนวิหารเมืองมิลาน แต่มี
อายุที่ห่างกันหลายศตวรรษ โรงอุปรากรแห่งนี้ ได้บอกกับ
ผู้มาเยือนว่า “กรุณาเดินบนหลังคา” หลังคาที่ปูด้วยหินอ่อน
สีขาวได้ลาดเอียงลงมายังบริเวณพื้นที่ลานริมอ่าว เชื่อม

หลังคานี้ เราสามารถชื่นชมหมู่เกาะฟยอร์ด บ้านฤดูร้อนแบบ
ดั้งเดิมของนอร์เวย์ เนินเขาของนอร์เวย์ และเมืองออสโลที่
ทันสมัย การแสดงยังไม่ได้จำากัดอยู่แค่ในอาคาร หรือเฉพาะ

เมื่อเร็วๆ นี้ Sou Fujimoto เสนอไอเดีย ศูนย์ชุมชนใน
เมืองฮิดะ ประเทศญี่ปุ่น โดยอาคารมีพื้นที่ทั้งหมด 21,300
ตารางเมตร และตั้งอยู่ติดกับสถานีรถไฟหลักของเมือง

ร้านค้า ซึ่งจะตั้งอยู่รอบๆ พื้นที่ศูนย์กลางที่เป็นลาน หลังคา
ใช้รูปทรงเหมือนกับชาม ในลักษณะสูงขึ้นบริเวณขอบและ
ลาดลงตรงกลางซึ่งเป็นที่ตั้งของลาน ด้านบนหลังคาเป็น
สวนสาธารณะที่ปกคลุมด้วยหญ้าและเปิดให้ผู้คนเดินได้
เนื่องจากเมืองฮิดะเป็นภูมิภาคที่มีภูเขาอันงดงาม จึงหวังว่า
สถาปัตยกรรมแห่งนี้จะทำาให้ “รับรู้ถึงธรรมชาติอันยิ่งใหญ่
ของเมืองฮิดะ” ได้ดียิ่งขึ้น หลังคาจึงนับเป็นอีกวิธีหนึ่งใน
การชื่นชมเมืองจากด้านบน
A marble-clad counterpart but several centuries
apart, Oslo Opera House designed by Snøhetta
tells visitors to ‘Please walk on the roof’. The white
marble-covered roof folds down to the waterfront
plaza, connecting the plaza and the building into
one. Visitors can walk above the Opera House, including
the heart of the complex—the performance
hall. Apart from walking, the Visit Norway website
reminds visitors that the roof is also a great place
to sit and take in the vista of the city. From here,
one can admire the fjord archipelago, traditional
Norwegian summer houses, the Norwegian hills,
and the modern city of Oslo. Performance does
not confine to inside the building—in other words,
for only ticket-paying audience. But the roof, along
with the waterfront plaza, also hosts outdoor events
like plays and concerts. The roof becomes a medium
for Oslo residents and tourists alike to admire the
city. Not everyone will go in to see the performance.
But its roof is a section of the building that makes
this civic building accessible for all, whether they
pay or not.
Recently, Sou Fujimoto proposes a community
centre in Hida, Japan. The building has a total area
of 21,300 square metres and is located next to the
main railway station of the town. The building is
circular in plan, topped with a distinctive circular
roof. Various functions which include a spa, exhibition
spaces, research facilities and shops, will be
located around the central plaza. The roof takes
on a shape of a bowl, rising higher at the rim, and
sags in the centre where the plaza is located. The
roof will eventually be a grass-covered park and
open for people to walk on. As Hida is a picturesque
mountainous region, it is hoped that the architecture
will give ‘a better awareness of the majestic nature
of Hida’. Roof is once again a means for admiring the
city from above.
