Onduline
Roof Sheets
materials
Onduline corrugated sheet was initially
invented in France almost a hundred
years ago. It was later developed in
Russia, making Onduline widely popular
in Europe. The outstanding features are
its beautiful corrugation, strength, and
lightweight. The sheet size is large, about
0.95 x 200 cm, with a thickness of 3 mm,
a corrugation height of 36 mm, and only
6 kg per sheet.
The unique feature of Onduline is that
it is made from cellulose fibers, which
undergo a heat treatment process of
pressing and curling at a temperature
of about 120 degrees, then are coated
with paint and moistened with bituminous
compounds, a component of
asphalt or bitumen, all of which give
Onduline advantages in terms of lightness,
soundproofing, and environmental
friendliness, in addition to its weight,
flexibility, and beautiful appearance.
While the disadvantage to consider is a
matter of fire resistance, the material
has a low level of fire safety since it
contains bitumen. There is also a chance
that there will be a smell when exposed
to extreme heat, which comes from the
bitumen used to produce it.
