When the time for an expansion came around,
Sevenlakes, a manufacturer of innovative food
wrapping film, chose to relocate its staff to a new
location in Bangkok’s Lad Krabang area. The new
office was designed by ASWA Architects, who
created a high-quality workspace with a pleasant
working atmosphere inside a trapezoidal architecture
inspired by the look of a building covered in
a layer of food wrapping film.
“When you buy a pack of ham or sausage, there’s
usually a piece of translucent film wrapping each
of the ingredients, and that film is what Sevenlakes
is known for. What we attempted to decipher was
how to construct a structure that would reflect the
company’s product. We had a look at all of the
interesting qualities of the film, and the one of the
purposes that stood out to us is its ability to adapt
to the shape of whatever type of food it wraps
around,” the architect explained.
From that concept, the building’s trapezoidal shape
is developed to have twisted, curved corners with
sharpness eliminated, corresponding with the very
flexible physical property of the product, whose
form is defined by the ingredient beneath which it
envelops.
