Academic Information<br />
LifeMap<br />
<strong>Bunker</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> is committed to supporting students in achieving<br />
their educational, career and life goals. Toward this end, the <strong>College</strong>’s LifeMap<br />
system provides holistic, integrated supports designed to help students chart and<br />
realize their goals. In cooperation with faculty, staff and peer mentors, students use<br />
LifeMap’s online tools to craft educational and career plans, connect with support<br />
services and create ePortfolios to showcase and re�ect on their learning.<br />
Academic Advising Philosophy<br />
Embracing the diversity of its college community, <strong>Bunker</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
recognizes the individual needs of its students. Our academic advisors are dedicated<br />
to providing continuous academic advising services to strengthen, nurture, empower,<br />
and assist students to make sound and responsible academic decisions through their<br />
educational career at the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
Advising Mission<br />
Advising is an ongoing teaching and learning process engaging the student with the<br />
entire college community, resulting in a plan for academic and career success as well<br />
as personal development.<br />
Academic Advising<br />
Academic advising is available for all BHCC students in a variety of forms that<br />
include individualized advising, group advising and online advising. Advising<br />
services are designed to assist students in achieving their academic, vocational<br />
and personal goals. These services include interpretation of assessment scores and<br />
selection of a program of study, course selection, registration related assistance and<br />
resource referral. Advisors also assist students with a variety of issues and concerns<br />
affecting their educational success.<br />
Advisor assignments are found in the My Pro�le section of each student’s WebAdvisor<br />
account. Degree seeking students will be assigned to a speci�c faculty member, the<br />
Advising Center, ESL Advising in Room B118 or to the Department in which they are<br />
studying. Non-degree-seeking students are not assigned to an advisor for one-onone<br />
advising. Non-degree-seeking students may utilize online advising services and<br />
are encouraged to apply to the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
Students assigned to their department will receive email <strong>info</strong>rmation regarding<br />
scheduled group advising sessions and contact <strong>info</strong>rmation for the departmental<br />
faculty. Students assigned to a full-time faculty or professional staff member for<br />
advising should contact their advisor to arrange an appointment. All full-time faculty<br />
and professional staff advisors have of�ces with posted of�ce hours, voicemail and<br />
email. Students assigned to the Advising/Counseling Center may access assistance<br />

WebAdvisor<br />
All registered students have an Online Services account known as WebAdvisor. This<br />
account allows students to print a current course schedule or unof�cial transcript,<br />
view placement test results and grades, search for course availability, access �nancial<br />
aid and student payment <strong>info</strong>rmation, register for or drop courses (during the posted<br />
registration and add/drop periods), pay for courses, create a payment plan and<br />
waive health insurance. In addition, the Program Evaluation feature of WebAdvisor<br />
allows students to monitor their progress toward program requirement completion<br />
and make <strong>info</strong>rmed decisions about course selection.<br />
To access your WebAdvisor online account for the �rst time, go to<br />
http://onlineservices.<strong>bhcc</strong>.mass.edu and select the Students menu. Select What’s<br />
My User ID? and input your last name and either your Social Security Number<br />
(do not use dasheds or spaces) or your BHCC Student ID, and submit this <strong>info</strong>rmation.<br />
You will receive your WebAdvisor User ID. Now select Log In and input your User<br />
ID. You will also need to input an initial password, which is the last 6 digits of your<br />
Social Security Number if you have one or the last 6 digits of your BHCC Student<br />
ID. The system will then require you to change your password. Please note that<br />
your new password must contain between 6 and 9 characters, include both letters<br />
and numbers, and contain no special symbols.<br />
