PROGRAM OVERVIEW<br />
This certi�cate program is designed to prepare students to work<br />
as professionals within a medical of�ce environment. Students<br />
learn basic medical terminology, which is then applied using<br />
MediSoft patient accounting software, a patient accounting<br />
software package. It also prepares students in third-party<br />
billing and coding. All program requirements may be applied<br />
to the Associate in Science Degree: Of�ce and Information<br />
Management Program.<br />
CAREER OUTLOOK<br />
Graduates of the program qualify for job opportunities in<br />
physicians’ and dentists’ of�ces, clinics, HMOs, community<br />
health agencies, long-term care facilities, and hospitals. They<br />
also qualify for jobs within large corporations that provide on site<br />
health services, engage in medical research, or produce medical<br />
products. Graduates will qualify for entry-level positions such as<br />
medical receptionists, medical records management specialists,<br />
patient service representatives. Students also may qualify for<br />
at-home opportunities as medical transcriptionists.<br />
