In conjunction with the new shaft, fan and electric motor, they have built 27 new^ and commodious houses for their workmen, and erected 136 new coke ovens of the beehive type. And have procured 500 new railroad cars of 60,000 pounds capacity, which are all equipped with the most improved air brakes, draughts and couplers. These two plants are now in a very good condition for a large output of coal, and I consider the sanitary condition of the mine of the greatest importance, as without good ventilation a large output cannot be kept up at any mine. Mining-boss of Loyalhanna, Alex. Parks. William Howarth has charge of the Pandora.
