Work<br />

However, those who live outside the centres may receive, <strong>in</strong> addition to the normal f<strong>in</strong>ancial<br />

assistance, additional support <strong>in</strong> order to cover hous<strong>in</strong>g costs.<br />

In pr<strong>in</strong>ciple, persons under temporary protection are not allowed to work.<br />

Nevertheless, Bosnians under temporary protection were given the right to take up paid<br />

employment if a job vacancy has been advertised <strong>for</strong> three months <strong>and</strong> cannot be filled by a<br />

person with a work permit <strong>in</strong> Denmark.<br />

Kosovo Albanians under temporary protection can be given permission to take up paid<br />

employment if they have a written employment contract <strong>and</strong> the appo<strong>in</strong>tment <strong>conditions</strong> are not<br />

conflict<strong>in</strong>g or deviat<strong>in</strong>g from normal employment <strong>conditions</strong> accord<strong>in</strong>g to Danish labour regulation<br />

(salary, work<strong>in</strong>g hours, etc.).<br />

Access to the adult education system<br />

Persons under temporary protection have limited access to the ord<strong>in</strong>ary Danish education<br />

system.<br />

They are offered special educational activities at the centres, which are per<strong>for</strong>med either <strong>in</strong> cooperation<br />

with <strong>in</strong>stitutions of the normal education system or directly by schools <strong>and</strong> other<br />

educational <strong>in</strong>stitutions.<br />

Young persons between 17 <strong>and</strong> 25 years are normally offered more extensive education than<br />

adults.<br />

Language tuition<br />

Persons under temporary protection are offered Danish language tuition.<br />

School attendance<br />

Children of Bosnians under temporary protection were first offered Bosnian school education <strong>and</strong><br />

could then attend normal Danish primary schools.<br />

Children of Kosovo Albanians under temporary protection are attend<strong>in</strong>g special schools<br />

established <strong>in</strong> the centres. Accord<strong>in</strong>g to the Kosovo Act, if there are specific reasons <strong>for</strong> a child to<br />

attend a normal Danish school or if no school is available <strong>in</strong> his/her accommodation centre, a<br />

child may attend a Danish primary school, provided he/she is accepted by the local authorities.<br />

Mother tongue tuition<br />

The teach<strong>in</strong>g language <strong>in</strong> the schools established <strong>in</strong> the accommodation centres is Danish, but<br />

children also receive mother tongue tuition.<br />

Unaccompanied m<strong>in</strong>ors<br />

The same as <strong>asylum</strong> <strong>seekers</strong>.<br />

Repatriation<br />

Persons under temporary protection are eligible <strong>for</strong> assistance towards repatriation.<br />
