Repatriation<br />

Travel expenses <strong>and</strong> a special repatriation allowance, which amounts to between FIM 4,000<br />

[EUR 673] <strong>for</strong> a s<strong>in</strong>gle adult <strong>and</strong> FIM 8,000 [EUR 1,345] per family, may be paid to a refugee<br />

wish<strong>in</strong>g to repatriate. This repatriation allowance can be paid only once.<br />

So far, only selected refugee groups, such as Bosnians <strong>and</strong> Kosovo Albanians, have been<br />

offered regular counsell<strong>in</strong>g on repatriation, however basic <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation may be obta<strong>in</strong>ed from the<br />

municipal <strong>social</strong> workers.<br />

As long as the residence permit is valid, it is possible to return to F<strong>in</strong>l<strong>and</strong> after repatriation. For<br />

<strong>refugees</strong> <strong>and</strong> de facto <strong>refugees</strong>, who have permanent residence permits, the right to return to<br />

F<strong>in</strong>l<strong>and</strong> expires after two years spent <strong>in</strong> the home country.<br />
