Health/sickness<br />

All <strong>asylum</strong> <strong>seekers</strong> benefit from a health <strong>in</strong>surance, which is paid <strong>for</strong> by the federal authorities.<br />

Limited dental care is <strong>in</strong>cluded.<br />

In practice, the situation varies depend<strong>in</strong>g on the canton. In most cantons, <strong>asylum</strong> <strong>seekers</strong> are<br />

free to choose their doctor. In some, however, they are appo<strong>in</strong>ted to one or a group of doctors. In<br />

others, health care is provided <strong>in</strong> medical centres .<br />

Freedom of residence/movement<br />

In pr<strong>in</strong>ciple there are no restrictions on the freedom of residence/movement.<br />

However, when allocat<strong>in</strong>g an <strong>asylum</strong> seeker to a canton, the Federal Office <strong>for</strong> Refugees or the<br />

canton’s authority can assign him/her to specific accommodation, <strong>in</strong> general <strong>in</strong> a collective centre.<br />

Furthermore, the cantonal authority can restrict the freedom of residence/movement <strong>for</strong> aliens<br />

who do not have residence or settlement permission <strong>and</strong> who disturb or endanger public security,<br />

especially <strong>in</strong> connection with il<strong>legal</strong> narcotics.<br />
