Work<br />
Persons with temporary leave to rema<strong>in</strong> are allowed to work as soon as they have received their<br />
residency documents.<br />
In addition, rejected applicants who are apply<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> temporary leave to rema<strong>in</strong> can stay <strong>in</strong><br />
employment if they ga<strong>in</strong>ed this right whilst an <strong>asylum</strong> seeker (see under “Work <strong>for</strong> <strong>asylum</strong><br />
<strong>seekers</strong>” above).<br />
Access to the adult education system<br />
Persons with temporary leave to rema<strong>in</strong> have access to the bridg<strong>in</strong>g programme (pre-vocational<br />
tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g) run by the Refugee <strong>and</strong> Language Support Unit (see above under “Access to the adult<br />
education system <strong>for</strong> <strong>refugees</strong>”).<br />
Those with temporary leave to rema<strong>in</strong> do not have the right to state funded third level education.<br />
Language tuition<br />
The Refugee Language Support Unit has provided fourteen schools with specialist teachers to<br />
assist children of <strong>asylum</strong> <strong>seekers</strong>, <strong>refugees</strong> <strong>and</strong> persons with temporary leave to rema<strong>in</strong>.<br />
Persons with temporary leave to rema<strong>in</strong> are permitted to avail of all the other services offered by<br />
this unit if they have their residency documents.<br />
School attendance<br />
School attendance is compulsory <strong>for</strong> all children between the ages of 6 <strong>and</strong> 16, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
children of persons with temporary leave to rema<strong>in</strong>.<br />
Mother tongue tuition<br />
There is no mother tongue tuition available to persons with temporary leave to rema<strong>in</strong>.<br />
Unaccompanied m<strong>in</strong>ors<br />
There are no special procedures <strong>in</strong> place <strong>for</strong> unaccompanied m<strong>in</strong>ors who have been granted<br />
temporary leave to rema<strong>in</strong>.<br />
Repatriation<br />
There are no repatriation projects <strong>in</strong> place <strong>for</strong> persons with temporary leave to rema<strong>in</strong>.<br />
