Identifying stress through
education
Employee responsibility for one’s own safety is
encouraged by educating and training which comprises
training for safe work, strengthening an awareness of
how important safety at work is and anticipating new
types of risk. 57 per cent of employees participated in
training courses for safe work in 2005.
The principal aim of education is to provide new
information in relation to occupational safety and
health. In addition to legally prescribed forms of
theoretical and practical training courses for safe work,
periodic training courses and qualification examinations
we also encourage associate awareness by:
• providing weekly notices and advice on safety at work
on special notice boards;
• writing a column entitled Sreåko warns and gives
advice in a monthly bulletin Informator; and
• printing notices in the Sava newspaper.
Employees can give their suggestions to improve safety
directly to the respective specialised service.

OHSAS 18001 standard
Increasingly strict regulations, which are incorporated in
the operation of individual companies by applying
internationally valid system tools, are implemented to
enhance occupational health and safety. These
regulations are a successful risk management tool.
Most companies that seek to systematically reduce the
risk of injury or health disorders affecting their
employees apply the OHSAS 18001 standard
(Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series)
whose basic principle is a continual improvement
process.
In 2002 and 2003 system tools for occupational health
and safety were applied in the rubber manufacturing
companies of the Sava Group. In 2004 the companies
Savatech d.o.o., Sava-Schäfer d.o.o. and Sava Trade d.d.
obtained certificates which prove their operations are
conducted in line with the OHSAS 18001 standard. In
2005 the certificate for a successfully introduced
occupational health and safety system was also obtained
by the company Radenci d.o.o. as the first spa resort,
hotel and catering company to do so.
