We are continuing to sponsor Triglav Ski Club. On a
modern ski jump – Bauhenk under Æmarjetna Gora –
training conditions are excellent and it can host
competitions at the highest level. In the beginning of
2006 the Nordic Junior World Championships were
held, with Sava d.d. participating in the organisation. In
summer the Grand Prix will take place on an artificial
ski jump with the world’s best jumpers participating.
We sponsor team sports as well. Sava Handball Club
joined with the Planina team to enable the youngest
girls’ selection to become familiar with handball, while
the seniors are faced with new challenges. The OBI
store sponsored the junior team of Kranj Football Club,
while Savatech d.o.o. sponsored Olimpija Volleybal
Club, and Sava Trade d.d. Jeœica Baseball Club.
This year too we sponsored the traditional Ljubelj 2005
Oldtimers’ Race for the Hrast Memorial, which had
more than 3,000 visitors. Terme Lendava provides funds
for the advancement of the sport of speedway.
The companies in Tourism earmarked considerable
funds for donations and sponsorships in sport. The
company Terme 3000 d.d. sponsored numerous
societies – Union Olimpija Basketball Club, the football
players of Mura 05 and Åarda, female football players of
Pomurje Len, the table-tennis club Moravske Toplice,
the grass hockey team NTK Moravske Toplice, and also
the young golfer, Vanja Bransberger. The companies
Terme Lendava d.d. and Terme Ptuj d.o.o. sponsor
football players and ballooning. Sava Hotels Bled
sponsored golf advancement and enabled three primary
schools to purchase and assemble golf equipment. They
also sponsored Bled Rowing Club, Partizan Œirovnica
Gymnastic Society and Œirovnica Mountaineering
Society.
Culture
We further remain active in spreading culture and
preserving cultural heritage and have therefore
established several long-term partnerships. We
sponsored the year-round project Synergy of the Art and
Business World, launched by the world renowned
virtuoso violin player Miha Pogaånik, in which he
discovered the paths to new ideas in the economy and
decision-making process of managerial teams through
classical music.
With the Museum of Gorenjsko we concluded a fouryear
general sponsorship agreement on the birth-place
home of the great Slovene poet Dr. France Preæeren in
Vrba and collaborated in the exhibition to celebrate the
100 th anniversary of the Slovene film industry. We
enrich the cultural life of the local community through
faithful collaboration with the Preæeren Theatre in
Kranj.
For several years we have been partners in the world’s
unique cultural Growing Book project. The idea about
Slovenia being proud of its literature is spreading
because every year we sponsor The Franc Rozman-
Stane Institution and the Just One Flower event. We
supported numerous book issues published by the
League of Combatants in the Second World War and
contributed to the Walk along Partisan Trails of
Jelovica event and the erection of the pan-Slovenian
monument to the T.I.G.R. combatants and people who
defended the Slovene homeland in Veliko Cerje above
Nova Gorica.
