summer contest for musicians. We aided the
Macedonian cultural society Sv. Ciril and Metod Kranj
in arranging premises for their work. Jointly with the
company Sava Trade d.d. we contributed to the
implementation of certain events during Kranj Youth
Week. The company Savatech d.o.o. collaborated with
the Academy of Fine Arts of Ljubljana University in
designing a new tread pattern for a scooter tyre.
Tourist operations correspond to public and cultural
events. The company Terme 3000 d.d. was involved in
the events of the Days of Sobota and Koæiå, andthe
Beltinci Festival and also assisted in the renovation of
churches. The companies Terme Lendava d.d. and
Terme Ptuj d.d. helped in the preservation of folk art by
making a contribution to ethnographic groups, choirs
and a musical society.
Professional development
Sava d.d. is a co-founder of organisations of broader
social importance such as the Joœef Ætefan International
Post-graduate School, Institute for the Development of a
Learning Company and the Development Forum of
Gorenjsko.
Professional achievements are companions of economic
progress. In 2005 we sponsored the final conference of
the international interdisciplinary research project
Manufacturing Visions – Quo Vadis? On the basis of a
research project, which included almost 3,000 experts,
22 countries and 31 European institutions, the
conference should determine the guidelines for future
industrial development in Europe with the aim of
becoming the best competitive economy by 2010.
Savatech d.o.o. took part in the research.
We took over sponsoring the conference Manageress
Excellence, organised by the Section of Manageresses at
the Managers’ Association of Slovenia in collaboration
with the international business school IEDC Bled. We
also established contact with the Metrology Institute RS
and sponsored the awards ceremony of the Business
Excellence Awards of the Republic of Slovenia and
provided professional and financial assistance in
publishing the book Learning Company – Create a
Company of Know-how. Assistance was given to the
Association of Safety Engineer Societies to organise the
8 th symposium on safety and health at work where the
Avgust Kuhar Foundation awards were presented.
Our aspirations for a balanced social development led us
to form a partnership with the IFIMES Institute, the
International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan
Studies, which has its head office in Ljubljana. The
Institute is involved in crisis areas, rescue and
preliminary conflict prevention.
The companies in Tourism helped in implementing
projects of the Slovene Tourist Board, which celebrated
its 100 th anniversary, as well as the Tourist Association
of Pomurje. Pannonian Spas sponsored the Diamant
chef team. The Slovene Olympic chef team found a
long-term partner in Sava Hotels Bled that will sponsor
it in the following four year period. Preparations prior to
departure for the world chef competition in Basel were
held in Grand Hotel Toplice d.o.o.
The company Savatech d.o.o. is also loyal to the Faculty
of Chemistry and Chemical Technology in Maribor. It
also sponsored the issue of a new presentation CD of the
Kranj Technical School Centre, thereby joining
endeavours to popularise technical professions.
All companies of the Sava Group are involved in the
development of education and training institutions in
their local environments. They supported their
educational programmes, donated computer equipment
and awarded pupils for their success in various
competitions and research projects.
Aid in distress
One part of our social role is understanding the needs of
the social environment.
We contributed funds and actively participated in the
Mayor’s Race through the streets of Kranj, which is
organised to collect funds to help addicts. Through the
