27. Protecting the Environment
and Fire Safety
Consistent with the law we manage our operations to attain a continual decrease in negative environmental
influences and the prevention of pollution.
Therefore we have committed ourselves to:
• assess the impact on the environment with every new operation;
• develop new products and services that are safe in production and use as well as their environment-friendly
disposal;
• discontinue using hazardous substances;
• plan, design and operate tools and procedures with the maximum economical use of energy and raw
materials and reduce the environmental burden;
• consider prescribed pollution limit values when selecting new equipment and technology;
• monitor environmental influences and take steps in case of irregularities;
• educate, train and make all employees aware of working responsibly;
• co-operate with interested parties in an open and cultural dialogue and, consequently, contribute to the
success of joint efforts invested by the company to improve environmental protection;
• encourage suppliers and contractors to use new environment management systems and respect
environmental legislation; and
• announce our success to the public.
27.1 Environmental protection
Our priority goals are:
• the economic use of energy, raw materials and natural
resources;
• separate collection and recycling of waste to decrease
the quantity of waste for disposal;
• the prevention of environmental pollution;
• substitution of hazardous substances with less
hazardous ones; and
• the training of employees on environmental issues.
Operations of all rubber manufacturing companies are
certified according to the SIST EN ISO 14001
certificate. In the Ptuj-based company Sava-GTI d.o.o.
we began conducting business in compliance with the
environment management certificate back in 2002. This
year the operation was re-assessed, and in line with the
mentioned standard, we obtained the second environment
management certificate.
In the company Terme Radenci d.o.o. environmental
management is performed in accordance with the
international standard SIS EN ISO 14001. In 2005 this
operation was adapted to the new environment
management standard ISO 14001:2004. In the company
Golf in Kamp Bled d.d. we continued to adapt this
operation to conform to the Committed to Green
programme. In the company Teol d.d. we introduced an
integrated system to balance the environment
management and occupational health and safety system
with the already introduced quality system according to
the ISO 9001/2000 standard.
By promoting environmental awareness among
employees we collaborate in campaigns in the narrower
and broader social community. Together with more than
400 participants from various societies and Kranj
citizens and residents from Straœiæåe we participated in
the fourth Let’s Clean Kranj campaign organised by the
Kranj Scouts Association, the Municipality of Kranj and
the Sava Group.
