It Is the obligation of a city government to encourage and cooperate
with Industries, within reason. The request of the M & M Transportation Co.
is definitely within reason and comes within the realm of good business for
the City of Somerville. This concern is one of the largest taxpayers in the
city and as such should be given every consideration and prompt action.
It is true that this petition was not heard by the present Board of
Aldermen but rather by the previous board who saw fit to take no action and
held the matter in committee. In January of this year your Honorable Board,
probably not having all the facts available, denied the petition of the M &
Transportation Co. for storage of additional gasoline in underground tanks.
I hereby recommend that in justice _to. the taxpay:ers_and_publl.o_splrlted
citizens that a^graye Jjnlu^LcAJ^e^
susj3ensi_on_of^.the_rules for a hearing at an early date and favorable
so as not to further hinder the economical operation of the business
carried on'by this company. I trust that your Honorable Board will accede to
this request.

Forwarding application for certificate of incorporation from
Thelma H. Blanchard an.fl_eight other persons not residents of sorcervllle under
the name of Massachusetts Society of Graduate physical Therapists, Inc. for
the purpose of the following: To sponsor post graduate lectures on physical
therapeutics. Group study of'research notes on physical therapeutics. TO hold
social gatherings for discussion of methods and application of physical thera-
phy; but these purposes shall include the right to apply for a license to
sell alcoholic beverages; "to be located in the city of Boston, Mass., said
application being accompanied by a report from the Chief of police stating
that upon investigation he fails to find any record of the above mentioned
person every having been engaged in the illegal selling of intoxicating 11-
quors or in the keeping of places or tenements for the purpose of illegal gam-
ing or in any other business prohibited by law and that she Is a person of
good repute.
Placed on file and certificate to be signed by his honor, the
Mayor and members of the Board of Aldermen and forwarded to the Secretary of
tfte Commonwealth.
