I enclose for your consideration a resolution advocating<br />

the continuance <strong>of</strong> the~~5?fice <strong>of</strong> Price Administration, as follows;<br />

Whereas:<br />

«. The Veterans <strong>of</strong> Foreign Wars, at their State Convention in<br />

Lawrence, on June 22nd, went on record as favoring extension <strong>of</strong> the Office <strong>of</strong><br />

Price Administration", and<br />

Whereas:<br />

The veterans <strong>of</strong> Foreign Wars are to be congratulated on<br />

taking this stand, despite all the pressure exerted by the National Association<br />

<strong>of</strong> Manufacturers to eliminate all price controls, and<br />

Whereas:<br />

The elimination <strong>of</strong> the Office <strong>of</strong> Price Administration will<br />

cause untold hardship and suffering to the wage earners <strong>of</strong> the Nation, -therefore<br />

be it<br />

Resolved:<br />

That this Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen is hereby recorded as favoring<br />

continuation <strong>of</strong> the Office <strong>of</strong> price Admlnstration, and be it further<br />

Resolved:<br />

That the <strong>City</strong> Clerk shall -send copies <strong>of</strong> this resolution<br />

to president Truman and our representatives in the U.S.Senate and the House<br />

<strong>of</strong> Representatives, Washington, D- C. ' .<br />

It is my wijto_tq_pay_trt.bute thrqugh_your_ Honorable<br />

Board, to the late Chief Thomas Danfery, o'f the'<strong>Somerville</strong> police Department.<br />

He was an exemplary public servant who placed service to<br />

the community above all other things. He enjoyed national recognition as an<br />

astute investigator and his service to the rank and file in our community will<br />

long be remembered.<br />

His passing leaves a void In the ranks <strong>of</strong> public leaders<br />

and a feeling <strong>of</strong> emptiness in the hearts <strong>of</strong> those men, women and children who<br />

were privileged to know him.<br />
