I enclose for your consideration a resolution advocating
the continuance of the~~5?fice of Price Administration, as follows;
Whereas:
«. The Veterans of Foreign Wars, at their State Convention in
Lawrence, on June 22nd, went on record as favoring extension of the Office of
Price Administration", and
Whereas:
The veterans of Foreign Wars are to be congratulated on
taking this stand, despite all the pressure exerted by the National Association
of Manufacturers to eliminate all price controls, and
Whereas:
The elimination of the Office of Price Administration will
cause untold hardship and suffering to the wage earners of the Nation, -therefore
be it
Resolved:
That this Board of Aldermen is hereby recorded as favoring
continuation of the Office of price Admlnstration, and be it further
Resolved:
That the City Clerk shall -send copies of this resolution
to president Truman and our representatives in the U.S.Senate and the House
of Representatives, Washington, D- C. ' .

Board, to the late Chief Thomas Danfery, o'f the'Somerville police Department.
He was an exemplary public servant who placed service to
the community above all other things. He enjoyed national recognition as an
astute investigator and his service to the rank and file in our community will
long be remembered.
His passing leaves a void In the ranks of public leaders
and a feeling of emptiness in the hearts of those men, women and children who
were privileged to know him.
