requires that all elevators in the city be inspected. The code also states
that this inspector upon completion of his work in a particular building sends
a bill for such Inspection and the money in turn is deposited in the general
treasury.
Through an oversight this money was eliminated from the budget, and
in as much as we have had one fatal accident and one other elevator failure
which could have been serious but fortunately was not, I believe provision
should be made for the employment of a man to inspect these elevators and
give certificates in order that we may comply with the law.
