In Washington, will;forever In the eyes of humanity stamp this nation as callous
and miserly to the ones whom we owe our lives, our happiness and our
American way of life, be it therefore
Resolved;
That the Somervllle Board of Aldermen in_^
session assembled, urgently and sincerely request the Congress of the United
States to pass the necessary legislation at the present session of Congress,
to provide for the payment of a cash bonus of at least &1,500.00 to every
Veteran of World War 11, and be it further
Resolved;
That a copy of these resolutions be sent to
every member of Congress, both House and Senate, from Massachusetts.

* Ordered:
That the Clerk of Committees Office forward a
list of all,petitions for,lodging house licenses, the names and locations, to
Commissioner of Public Buildings John F. Kennedy, chief of the Fire Depart-
ment John C. McNally, Captain Augustine F. Sharry of the Police Department
and to the Secretary of the Board of Health, Joseph R. Corish* The above
named to conduct investigations of the said petitions, relative to their
respective departments and taking into consideration the provisions of the
new City of Somerville Building Code that was passed and approved,in December
19^5- Reports by the above named shall be submitted to the Committee on Li-
censes and Permits in the Office of the Clerk of Committees, at the earliest
possible date consistent with a thorough investigation.

That the Building Commissioner, the City Solici-
tor and the Superintendent of Schools confer together to formulate a plan
whereby the employees of the School Cafeteria System be brought within the
pension system and for deductions for social security.

That the City Auditor be directed to include
with each payroll check for each city employee including school teachers, a
statement showing how much the weekly or monthly'salary is^ the amount de-
ducted for income taxes, for pension and any other deductions and the amount
