13.1.5 SDLC primary port
Primary SNA/SDLC port (configured with the P-SDLC protocol) to which the PU is
attached.
13.1.6 SDLC primary address
SDLC address for the PU on the primary side of the connection. Two hexadecimal digits
must be selected.
To support PU Type 4, where 2 FEPs are connected via an SDLC line, the SDLC
addressing is different from that of normal SDLC operation. In particular, all PUs in
primary and secondary mode must be configured with address FF. When a SIM/RIM
frame is received from the SDLC side or the PVCR side, the PU will go into transparent
mode. From this point on, all frames received on the SDLC port will be sent out
transparently to the remote. When an XID or SNRM is detected on the SDLC port, the PU
exits transparent mode and re-enters emulation mode. Note that with PU Type 4, the
NetPerformer can perform NCP download using FEP-to-FEP connections.
